They already are priced like E46s. I bought mine for 19.5 and I kicked myself for it because the next week I found another coupe with the same miles for 16 out the door. You can find these cars everywhere. AWD sedans are even cheaper

Living in AZ is hell during the summer so I have been staying up during the nights to work on getting the car stripped with the essentials. Progress!

Tell me about it. I don't even have shade and working at night does not help during monsoon season, too hot and humid. Finally we have fresh nights but only after midnight. What I do is wet the t shirt and that gives me 30 minutes, then get back inside the house for 30 min, talk thrash on the forums, then go back wet the shirt again and wrench for another 30 min and that's how it is.
I can't imagine you doing such a heavy project without a proper shop lift.

how the hell do you get those numbers for $1800?!?
Beauty of force induction, more boost more power. Some cars are made 500hp then restrictive downpipe was placed and boost reduced so it sits at 300hp, so with few bolt ons you get massive power increase.

This is the main reason why there are no more N54 swaps, the 335 is still up there in price.

I would imagine the E39 rear end would be more robust given that it is is designed from the factory to handle an extra 100+ ft-lbs of torque.

Its easy to do this swap because the subframes will just swap over. I will be bolting my extra subframe from the e46 to the e90 lol. I was up all night last night and it wasnt too bad. Then came about 8 AM and i was getting trashed by 9

You are correct. This is why I am looking into the issue. That will come later. First comes the swap. Like I said before, I actually need a new daily so you can call this a really motivated swap

Update: I am hoping to have everything except the dash stripped from the interior. Stripping this car is a piece of cake!

Edit: I am looking for some kind of insert for the sunroof as well. I am going to pull the glass and motor for weight reasons. Are there are plastic pieces to fill it or any cool ideas I am not thinking of?

Idk, but the thread is around here somewhere. It was pretty helpful so far, but this is going a step further. I am looking at building a hybrid rear end right now. Lots of research and thinking

Is the bolt pattern and input shaft of the e9x transmission capable of fitting against the M54-Bxx? Curious!

If by rear end you mean differential, they're the same, except for the ring and pinion. E46 M3 got way beefier components than necessary (same transmission as E39 M5 too, just different bell housing)

** Stay on topic **

Same bell housing as far as I'm aware. I have been wondering what it'd take to throw the 335 transmission in an E46. The synchros aren't super notchy like the getrag. Input shaft is the same as the 330-6spd tranny.

Just a little update. I scooped up an E46 M3 rear subframe, crossmember, sway bar and the ABS sensors. I am still looking for an M3 diff, 6 speed driveshaft, and halfshafts. If you guys know of anyone parting and would let me score a good deal let me know! I got tons of goodies for the N54. I got new downpipes, rebuild kit for the oem turbos, tons of new seals and gaskets, and new o2 sensors!

Good thing they are computer generated!

edit: in preparation for the arrival of the e46 today I stripped down the e90. dash and wiring harness are mostly out of the car. tons of sensors and other electronic goodies that need to get transferred over. i have a hell of a wiring splice job coming ahead. the plan is pretty simple. ill just use the e90 computer, but the e46 connectors spliced into my harness to connect to everything i need to like lights and door locks/window regs. it sounds easy now, but we will see. if anyone wants any e46 parts now is the time to step up and start asking! you can pm me or post here. it will get read

UPDATE 18/9/13

I picked up this baby last night. She has some issues. Two spark plugs missing, and hail damage, but hey, its a racecar. I cant complain.

These wheels make me suspicious of the cars history last thing I need is the DEA all over me for getting a car from a drug dealer or something

Oh, and it has begun!

Edit: So this is official. If any of you guys want any parts off this black car let me know. It has the OEM grey interior. However, this is not a BMW black color. It used to be TiAg but owner changed it to black -_- Perhaps one of you guys want an M52b28 to swappitty swap?

Part out thread!

I will consider it. How much for the unit? I did post the motor on a couple local forums and r3vlimited to see if any e30 guys want it. Let me know how much and I will consider it
