There's a difference between open carrying and dancing around acting like its a show piece.
Exactly. The problem is that people took their neutral stance and in my opinion, abused it. The Starbucks Appreciation Day put the company in a really bad position.

I don't get open carry and why the hell youd do it...you're the first one that will get shot if sh!t hits the fan because they know you're already a threat. Concealed you have the element of surprise.

Because you can't carry a full sized service pistol inside of most dress pants with tucked in shirts or tight jeans. Also, driving is very uncomfortable with a CC holstered firearm. I always have to unholster mine to drive.
I've been considering open carry just for comfort alone.

Please site where open carrying is a higher risk than conceal carrying. Element of surprise? Jesus. I pray you're never in a situation you may need to defend yourself if you're hoping for element of surprise to end a situation. I'm actually quite surprised at how many people claim to be pro 2a but are quite the opposite.

Idk about you but I'd shoot the person I know has a gun first

And yeah concealed carry sucks with a full sized handgun. But I'd rather people not know I have a gun on me. Idk.

Do you tell cops to conceal? Open Carry is more comfortable and accessible
Your argument can be quickly turned around that Open Carry is actually a documented and efficient crime deterrent

Do you carry a firearm on a daily basis?

I don't mind open carrying and I will defend your right to open carry an AR but don't be surprised if things like this happen as a result. I think those people oc'ing an AR were trolling. They know it bothers people (granted it's your right) and they do it to annoy those that don't support the second. This is what happens as a result. Right or wrong, it's the consequence.

these types of "activists" typically annoy me. I don't think that flaunting your firearm around in public with the intention of drawing attention to yourself does any good for the firearms community. I applaud starbucks for their stance on the matter and am thankful that they have not over-reacted to the spotlight put on them from the more enthusiastic 2a promoters.

When it comes to guns, all press is bad press. The good never gets shown, so we must expect that it will be spun as such. While those guys trolling for cops with ak47s on their back are "exercising" their rights, that isn't the message being delivered to the general public. When trying to convey a message, you need understand your audience. I agree that it seldom does any good.

that's exactly the problem, the good is rarely shown.

^my thoughts exactly, why would you need to open carry an AR or AK unless looking to cause problems? A handgun is one thing, but purposefully carrying to just run your mouth off to a cop is going to draw negative attention to us unfortunately. Exercising your rights is one thing, but some people go overboard.

on the other hand, one should be able to exercise their rights without having such a great backlash from it. people are over sensitive. not just to guns, but to everything. personally, I think that people's fragile sensibilities and inability to deal with the world around them is ruining this country.

What's next? Banning at mass transit or airport?

Let's be real here. Leave your weapon. Unless you live in middle of no where, you don't need to carry a weapon, at least when going to coffee anyways

Sweet, please advise where crime will happen so I can sell all my guns.
Also, car accidents, fires and acts of God so I can cancel all my insurance

Cause crime statistically happens "in the middle of no where" rather than urban, densely populated areas. Not in coffee shops for sure, they are gun free zones and we ALL know how safe gun free zones are

Well yes, but I can wear a sign like John Mclane saying "I hate n****rs" and although it is my right to do so, the sign has consequences.
