Maybe you should try it out yourself, and tell me how it went.

And do you actually know what a SULEV is before I mentioned it? Just be honest I won't make fun of you I'm just curious because most people don't even know when they have one.

Are you completely retarded?! The 325i has 16 cylinders like a Veyron. NOOB!

You don't want to pay, therefore you can't play. Spend $600 and you won't feel any difference, except for the absence of $600. If you wanted a car to tinker with on the cheap you should have bought a Civic or an old Integra.

OP you are being extremely hard headed here and you're not listening to experience. Just because you didn't get the answer that you wanted here doesn't mean anyone is hiding some big secret from you. I understand you are young and you want to make your car faster, we all went through that phase and its perfectly ok, but you are obviously low on money and you aren't getting that when BMW made these cars they squeezed everything they could out of them. There is no magic mod that will increase your performance. Most of the item listed here are not going to do anything more than make you mentally think your car is faster when in reality it won't be. There are many things that will come up on your car that will cost you big money to repair. These cars break and when it does you are going to wish you had just left good enough alone. You came here for an answer to a question and I'm sorry you didn't hear what you wanted, so save your money and if you really want more performance start refreshing the items that BMW put on the car in the first place. Don't be another one of these broke kids that spends every paycheck they get on worthless mods that do nothing then ends up blowing their car up. Make the responsible decision and set a goal, if you want a bad ass sports car someday then leave your car alone and save your cash to get one because the car you have will never be what you want it to be.

The reason I asked is because in order to determine a SULEV, you have to look under the hood at the very least. And like you said, you know local E46 driver's. If you know these people and which engine they have, chances are they are enthusiasts. As enthusiasts, there is a good chance that they went out of their way to buy a non SULEV car. That is why you don't see them. The SULEV driver is the 70 year old woman who doesn't even know what E46 means despite having one for 10 years.

Have you forgotten that probably 90% of the people that drive a 3 series have no idea nor do they care about technical details, they bought the car because they wanted a BMW and the 3 series was affordable for them. Just because you know a few kids in the neighborhood that bought a high mileage E46 doesn't mean you have the scoop on every BMW 3 series in your area.

Never said I did. I was just countering the assumption that all 2003's in California are SULEV's, when I know plenty that aren't. And I'm taking a guess that OP's is not as well.

OP, Multiply that number by 10, and then you will see a faster 0-60 time, otherwise, don't bother.

I'd rather have a car that can out handle in the twisties over something that can only go fast in a straight line. thats actually why a bought a BMW.

Every car is fast enough to get you in trouble, some will just get you into it quicker than others.

I think, people are too skeptic about low budged mods. If its your passion, do whatever you want you want. My dad loves fishing and is spending much more money on it than me on my car. I have 325 auto too and what i can advice is :

1. Headers (150-500$)- you can gain +- 10-13WHP (10-13hp on wheels) which is pretty damn good for that money. So you have hp gain and it sounds beautifully with stock exhaust. Im from europe, so my 325i is 192hp and i dynoed 13whp and 16hp on crank. So basically, before headers install i dynoed 196hp (healthy engine) and after header install it was 212hp.

http://e46fanatics.com/forum/showthread.php?t=797572

2. Shrick cams - around 1k$ but +-20HP+
Im planning to do it.

http://www.turnermotorsport.com/BMW-...camshafts.aspx

3. m54b30 intake - +- 4-6hp gain - 50-100$

4. Custom tune (probably best is to get custom tune after head install + shrick cams + m54b30 intake)

5. Uderdrive pulleys - around 100$
http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=98124

After that, you can have +- 240hp (crank) from 2,5L.

My friend gained 220hp from 2,8L just by using headers and CAI.

Not sure, how possible is this in USA with 91 petrol and less HP engines but here in EU you can squeeze 200whp from 2,5L by doing these mods..

Most expensive are shrick cams but you`ll feel huge gain.

If you dont want to play with engine internals , stick with headers, cai, maybe 3,0 intake and pulleys.

Service car, buy coilovers, re-new your bushings with polyurethane, do your vanos and intake hoses and drive drive drive. Enjoy nice sound from headers and some HP gain with better TQ/HP curve after header install.
