WTB: 2003+ E46 M3 black/silver/grey UPDATE **FOUND ONE***

I have unsuccessfully been looking for a tidy unmodified M3 following the basic description above with full service history.

I am checking CarSales almost every hour now. If anyone knows of an M3 that is up for grabs, or the owner is even thinking of letting one go that has been cared for please let me know.

Budget is $40,000.

No great rush, I only want to settle for the right one.

Thanks in advance

Surely there's several M3s on carsales right now that fit that criteria? How many have you seen?

I am ready, willing, able, keen, but trying to buy the right one. If it happens sooner rather than later I would be happy!

Sounds nice, however I personally am not a fan of red. Thanks though.

Did you end up looking at silver one that had water damage? Or what about that Jet Black one? Else there's a few convertibles that fit your criteria.

No I walked away from the water damaged one. I would like an uncomplicated one with clear history.

The jet black one I also left as it has been serviced by the owners son who owns his own workshop for the past 3 years. I might be getting picky, but this is why I am willing to wait. I see the black alcantra one in Melb with 70km is gone. You were looking this one correct?

I am after the coupe also, which narrows the criteria.

I wouldn't be concerned about that service history if it's been done at frequent intervals. You're not exactly going to skimp on a family members car. Often it's better if someone with a vested interest services the car, less likely to cut corners like an apprentice and it generally means more frequent services.

I service my M3 myself every 5kkms. I'd prefer that over the regular 25kkms dealer service intervals!

Same

maybe you should get a PPI on the Jet Black one. It could be the one!

Yes, you may be right. Perhaps I was being a little precious. A PPI was always the plan. I am in Sydney this weekend, I'll go and have a look I think.

Thanks gents.

Looking at this one on Wednesday.

http://www.carsales.com.au/private/d.../?Cr=2&sdmvc=1

Not a fan of blackened grilles, badges and wheels. But I see a nice car under that. None of the original parts come with the car, but only a few bucks to get some OEM badges back on there.

Apparently they are genuine CSL's painted black. I will check part numbers when I inspect. I would like to swap these wheels for some mint OEM 19's pretty soon after purchase if it goes ahead.

Also as a late 2002 build it has LED tail lights? Info I have seen states 2003 as the first year these came in. Was it late '02? Owner says that he purchased the car as you see it with the exception of the wheels, which he had painted.

Appreciate thoughts gents.

HAHAHA

OP with a $40,000 budget you'll easily find something that will suit.
The last car you posted looks tidy. But personally i'm not a fan of dark grey. Like i mentioned before, it looks like your driving a rain cloud.
But hey, who gives a feck what I like.

Good luck and hope you find your M3 soon.

I like dark grey. Those LED tail lights are probably aftermarket. Easy mod to do. Yeah I'd change the wheels and return the badges all to oem. Have a look at it and get a PPI if you're serious. Make sure the bearing recall was done as it's an '02 model.

not sure if anyone remembers but around August last year there was a steel grey M3 with very similar kms for sale. but it had AP brakes, KW suspension, Cobra seats, sports exhaust.... i emailed the guy a few times about it. his name was also Jason (surname Luxon).
could be a totally different guy, but thought ill mention it.

Good to know, thanks. I forgot to ask him about the exhaust, as it looks aftermarket. I'll look into the other details, as he states he has had the car for almost 3 years.

Just got a message from he owner. It looks like this is the same car. He mentioned it had KW suspension, but he didn't like the ride so put in Ksport coilovers. He didn't answer my question on after market exhaust, but looking at the tips I dare say it is not stock.

I am going to leave this one also. I am after a stock car, and was hoping this car only had some cosmetic mods I could reverse.

The search continues...

Thanks again for your help guys.

Will you be leaving the car you buy stock?

I've always wanted stock cars, because whenever I mod them I am quite picky. However, if I saw a modded car where I liked the mods, I would consider it. If you're going to leave the car stock, then yeah get a stock car. But if you're going to mod the car in the future, and it already has quality mods, I would still consider it.

Pretty much. If I get bored I will only be doing reversible cosmetic mods.
