Cadillac, Audi, Mercedes vs BMW

have you guys noticed that alot of talk from especially from cadillac that they got the " better" cars than BMW? its seems like alot of other luxury car brands want to crush BMW. I have noticed this "attitude" sometimes with some people who drive ATS, CTS-Vs. I had a guy tell me that most of the new cadillacs will crush these BMWs, really? I told him to read the article from Motortrend? basically the writer said BMW underrates their horsepower, in a nutshell "If you see a BMW depending on what it is, dont mess with it"

BMW is still the brand to beat overall in that level of vehicle. The CTS-V can probably walk an M3 on a drag strip, but is it as refined everywhere else? I don't know, but probably not.

Cadillac has definitely stepped up their game over the past few years, but I still wouldn't be swayed from European cars.

The CTS-V doesn't compete with the M3, it competes with the M5.

Sticking with BMW personally, because I can't buy a SAAB.

Please don't tell me you think the CTS is based on a Saab.

I had heard that Cadillac's VP made it their mission to dethrone the 3 series and to show the M5 M3 couldnt come close to CTS-V and now their new turbo 410HP. I sense alot of the luxury car companies are sick of BMW and would love to see the 3 fall, just my opinion.

Yes, they did. The reviews of the ATS also exclaimed that it out-BMW'd BMW.

Also note that the latest mustang is performing as well as an M3.

BMW has been resting on their laurels. There are still a lot of people who will buy a BMW regardless, but the competition is making great strides.

Quality, not quantity. And this is where Cadillac/ GM have failed and will fail...

No of course not. I said that because I prefer SAAB to BMW but I can't really stick with them so I buy BMW instead. Will eventually buy a SAAB though.

I own 2 BMW cars, a 3 series and a 5 series. I also own an Audi A6. The Audi has better freeway manners but either BMW will easily hand the Audi it's hat in every other venue. I drove a CTS-V and although it is fast, it still has the same issues that originally drove me away from Detroit iron years ago. The fit and finish just is not quite right, and a lot of the interior feels cheaply
Made. When you begin to compare them both objectively, and subjectively, Cadillac still is a Ghetto sled.

yeah your right. BMW better step up. But I think that writer from Motor trend was correct, Bmw advertises their HP way below what the car could do and it matched this Cadillac on every test with Less HP(so they say) wish I could remember the article.

You can afford used BMWs but not used Saab?

Do you have a link to this article where BMW advertises less horsepower than their cars actually have?

I'd be interested in learning the business decision behind that.

If you're not just trolling, I would say sell your BMWs and your Audi and pick up a Saab 92x. I almost bought one before I bought my S4.

Yeah I always here that and I doubt it's true. At most, the margin they give themselves is a few percent larger than other companies.

I wish I did. I was getting my 330xi worked on at the Body shop when I picked up the magazine. It was maybe Motortrend? 2013? Article was on BMW and how they understate their HP and how they ran a head to head 3series against a Cadillac and the BMW hung with the Cadillac. the writer states BMW has been known to do this alot in his opinion.
