My Ride: 2002 325i
Hello From Chicagoland - New To Me 2002 BMW 325i Owner

Just purchased a 2002 BMW 325i last Saturday. The color is Oxford Green. Test drive went well. Steering felt a little funny to me but I quickly learned that the suspension and steering is not quite the same as my 2002 Chevy Malibu which I traded in. However the feel and power amaze me compared to the Malibu. I knew with the car being some 11+ years old it wouldn't be without its issues.

Car has a few scuffs and scratches. Missing the front tow hook cover.

Purchased a tow hook cover.
Purchased paint.
Purchased mass air flow cleaner (will be cleaning the MAF tomorrow).

What I've done:
Changed the air filter.
Changed out the power steering fluid.
Put leather conditioner on the seats.
Shined up the black trim.
Tried (didn't do a very good job) to turn the yellow headlight covers anything but yellow.

One thing in particular I don't like is I see an oil leak and the garage floor has oil on it. I can't tell where it is coming from at this time. The dealer must have done one heck of a job (degreasing) because I eyeballed the engine compartment for a good while before deciding to make the purchase. Having had my rant though, I'm happy with the purchase. Just need to take care of that darn oil leak. Thinking of getting a car was tomorrow with the full blown underbody wash and possibly a degreasing (does that sound like a good idea?) so I can keep a better eye on where the leak may be coming from.

Give it a good pressure cleaning wash to the undercarriage and motor to see if you can pin point where the leak is coming from.

I hope to be doing that today. Wonder if my local car wash (hand held device) or one of those car washes which offer the undercarriage wash will hit the engine?

My thought at this point is to change the valve cover gasket as a starter. Yeah, some could say I am throwing money at the problem but in my mind I could also change the spark plugs at the same time.
