What is it?

Can anyone tell me what this car is? I've been looking for about 2 hours and I can't find it. I'm not knowledgable at all when it comes to anything this old.

Had historic plates which makes me think otherwise.

I'm guessing it's something that they only made 250 of?

Excalibur has been producing them since the 60s, so historic plates are still a possibility.

If it's a kit car, the base car would probably be an old air-cooled VW Beetle, which would probably qualify for "classic" plates in many states.

The '70s were not a good time for American cars.

possibly, but the fenders are quite different. Notice the Corsair has the exhaust pipes dropping through the fenders. OPs car has the exhaust completely beneath the fender.

Same with the excalibur roadster.

OP's car has an MG Midget windshield frame. So does the corsair.

Take a closer look at OP's picture of the red car. You'll notice light hitting the top of the exhaust revealing that it does go through the fender.

Pics are just at different angles. It's the Corsair.
