My Ride: 04 AW 330i ZHP
330i ZHP or Mitsubishi Evo ix

I drive an 04 330i with 125k miles on it and I put it up for sale a couple weeks ago to test the waters. I have a buyer in place but I haven't gotten rid of it because I don't have a replacement yet. My main reason for wanting to sell my ZHP is because I want something a bit quicker and turbo'd but still reliable.

Today I was browsing and found an electric blue Evo IX with 54k miles, a few light mods and is making 425hp/378tq. Met up with the guy earlier to check the car out and I was a lot more surprised than I thought I would be. It's super clean with only a few minor cosmetic flaws. At this point I'm considering getting into the Evo because it's the exact car I was looking for before I got into my ZHP and it has low miles.

I hear the ride isn't that comfortable to daily it every day but it felt fine when we went for a spin. I don't care too much about the interior not being full of electronics. It has leather seats which are nice but they're a bit firm.

I know this is a BMW forum but I'm sure some of you have experience with these cars so I'm just looking for pros/cons and any reliability issues if any.

Idk about the evo, but I would take an sti over my car all day. Interior, blah. But power and fun is off the charts. Love those things.
I say take the evo

Evo 9's are the sh1t. My good friend has one with 86k on it. I drove it and god damn it was fast. He has no complaints about it. He had an e46 330i with a VF supercharger on it and sold it for the evo. He dd's the evo and likes it more than his S/C'd 330. I'd say buy if the price is right. Some pics would help too

Yeah the power in that car was crazy coming from my zhp. I was considering the 04-05 sti's but I prefer the evo's

See, if I kept my car, I'd want to supercharge it but I don't think it would be the same as a boosted car and it wouldn't make nearly as much power unless I dropped a ton of money into it. How much power was the 330 making?

Extremely clean, but still previously modified, and most likely driven as such...did the owner do the mods himself on some jank shit, or did he take it to a shop and have it done right? Most of the time it is the latter. Before you do anything GET A PPI

edit. Blue evo looks bad as ****

All the work was done at a shop and if I recall correctly, he has most of the receipts for the work. Electric blue evos are just pure sex.

The deal maker here is only 56k on the evo. I say buy it, if you don't like it trade it for another ZHP with less miles.

The zhp is much better looking IMO. The windows looks stupid big on the evo and it just looks kinda weird. BUT there's absolutely no denying 400+ hp going to 4 wheels. It's seriously nuts.

Thats what I was thinking. Maybe I could trade it for a 335i instead if anything.

They both look good but theres just something about the evo that I like a lot and yeah the power output for them is crazy.

I think I might just have to. Its either that, a 335 or put work into my car which I wouldn't get back if I decided to sell it later.

Re: 330i ZHP or Mitsubishi Evo ix

Buy it and take off the rear wing. His 330 made 324 bhp and 269 rwtq on the dyno. I'd prefer to buy a factory boosted car and mod it from there, versus buy an NA car and FI it and mod from the ground up

You probably can't go wrong. More pics please of whichever you end up with would be appreciated. Seems like you found a car that meets your desires. Good luck.

How much cash would you have to put on top to get the Evo?

More performance - Less lux = Evo

Less performane - more lux = 330

I'd take the Evo only a M3 could talk me out of it.

My Ride: A car.
I'd personally only get an Evo (prefer an Sti) if I could get it new. Would rather not inherit the potential of other peoples problems.
