If you had to buy a new android phone today...

What would you buy?
These phones come to mind...
Samsung note 3
Samsung galaxy s4
Htc one
LG G2

Is any motorola device worth looking at?
I haven't been keeping up with phone news since I'm not due for an upgrade for a few more months
But my gf just dropped her iphone4s and it completely shattered the screen on both front and back and the phone won't even turn on
It may be repairable but she needs a phone right away so we're looking at new phones right now
She has an upgrade available on verizon and is wanting to switch to an android device
So give me some input please

The LG G2 looks like a performance winner but the button placement seems like a huge pain in the ass
S4 and htc one already seem a bit dated
Note 3 looks awesome but she will have to see if she likes the phablet size

Button placement on the G2 is really funky. IMO go for the note 3 if you can handle the screen size. I'm sure you'll get hundreds of other opinions though

I'd wait a couple of weeks to see what the Nexus 5 brings and how it's priced. It's basically going to be a better functioning version of the G2.

The Moto X is definitely worth a look, as are the S4 and HTC One. But wait. Wait for the Nexus.

The Galaxy S4 seems dated to you? Damn, even its predecessor, the S3, can get the job done smooth and efficiently. I no longer care to put an effort in keeping up with the smartphone market.

Need a phone like within a day or two
Because her phone is DEAD right now

If it is repairable, great
But deal with that later
not going to wait to see if it can be recovered or not

I have the s3 and it is fine
But if you have to shell out $200 with a 2 year contract, don't you want to get the latest and best?

I only did a little research, but this Moto X seems pretty sweet. All the reviewers are blown away by how fast it is. Maybe take a look at it.

was $130 at costco.

With T-Mobile, the monthly bill is cheaper when you're out of contract. I did the math. That $600 will actually save you money over two years. I'm talking HUNDREDS.

Did the G2 myself, couldn't be happier. Button placement is a little to get used to, but nothing that can't be adjusted to. The knock-on/off is handy, and it packs a pretty good punch. Rooted it to get rid of a few bloat apps the night I got it home, and it's been great. Battery life is insane, camera takes great shots, I really can't find any complaints, other than being so new, and not a Nexus device, that the "Pure" ROMs are gonna be a little bit before coming down. But other than that, Can't complain. The Note is just a tad too big for my tastes. I honestly had no intention of switching my GNex, much less to an LG phone, and was just looking to get a new phone for my gf to come home to next month. So now I have one, and she has one waiting in the box.

(For what it's worth, I'm on VZW as well, and did the upgrade on her line, and our 3rd spare line, and swapped the 3rd line G2 onto mine to keep my unlimited data. I couldn't ever really see myself switching off VZW. No one else has the coverage around where I am.)

I've had my Note 2 on verizon for just about a year now and I couldn't be happier with it.
Note 3 looks great and I wish I had an upgrade available.
My wife picked up an S4 a few months ago and that is also a really nice phone.
I had a droid x and droid x2 and both of them were okay at first and went downhill fast so I went away from moto but some of their new phones look sweet.

The moto x may be newer but it's not has "high end" as the htc one or galaxy s4. Both the latter phones are more powerful and offer better screens.

Not knocking the moto x, as it's well more than adequate, but Motorola chose to focus on its design customization as it's main selling point. To keep costs down (since it's pretty much made in the US) they had to cut back on the tech and screen they used.

So it depends on what you consider when you say you want "to get the best".
