Re: If you had to buy a new android phone today...

HTC One or Moto X. I love my HTC. Build quality is uncompromising. Audio quality.... Never knew what I was missing. Bezel is larger than the S4 but I'll take the pros of this phone over all of the S4 gimmicks.

Battery life is insane, camera takes great shots, I really can't find any complaints, other than being so new, and not a Nexus device, that the "Pure" ROMs are gonna be a little bit before coming down. But other than that, Can't complain. The Note is just a tad too big for my tastes. I honestly had no intention of switching my GNex, much less to an LG phone, and was just looking to get a new phone for my gf to come home to next month. So now I have one, and she has one waiting in the box.

(For what it's worth, I'm on VZW as well, and did the upgrade on her line, and our 3rd spare line, and swapped the 3rd line G2 onto mine to keep my unlimited data. I couldn't ever really see myself switching off VZW. No one else has the coverage around where I am.)
This is what I did gnex to g2.

Button placement isn't even an issue with the knock gesture. My hands almost always lands near or around the buttons. Screen shots take getting used to.

Camera is very good. If you are thinking about waiting for the nexus 5, then mess with a g2 and hit will get an idea of the hardware

I've heard good things about the nexus 5, but the one thing EVERYONE won't shut up about is how damn cheap the phone was off contract. I'd say you can't go wrong.

HTC One M8 or Samsung Galaxy S5 for now.

If you want an iPhone, just wait till September when iPhone 6 releases with a 4.7 inch screen.

I stopped getting the latest iPhone every year after I got my iPhone 5. The 6 will have to have some serious upgrades if I'm going to get it. Plus this iPhone 5 I got off craigslist still has apple warranty! Woot woot, break it and bring it in and get a new one. I've been wanting to go to an android though just to try it out, but just when I'm about to do it, I think why, what other features do I possibly need.

I would recommend the G2, but G3 releases state side next month so..... up to you. I got a sweet deal on my G2. $399 brand new unlocked AT&T model

Honestly, don't worry about the buttons on the back. You never use them half the time. They aren't soft to press so you won't accidentally press the button either

played with my cousins Galaxy S5 he just got. I like the UI a lot, pretty fluid. can see that it takes quite a bit of time getting used to. the phone itself feels much bigger than the iphone, probably couldn't handle a Note. will try to go play with a HTC in store somewhere. the moto X looks nice too

how are you mac users uploading music/syncing contacts and whatnot? any major headaches or obstacles getting everything integrated? it still feels like a side-step considering I have a MBP and iPad.
