Odds of finding an AW/IR 6MT coupe?

So on a scale of 1-10, with 10 being harder to find than hen's teeth; where does you rate the difficulty level of finding an Alpine White 6MT coupe with the Imola Red interior?

In SI, never.

Anywhere else in the 50 states 9.5

Was looking for close to a yr, back in 2009....and didn't come across one for sale.

Actually just finding a clean non-abused one was tough to come by. Looked at over a dozen before i found mine.

Thanks. Almost as thought-provoking as it was deep.

Won't have the $ to look until the spring and I have been looking on the various sites just to get an idea. Figured I'd pose it to the folks that have been on the sites much more often than I have in the last year or two.

Sorry to have disturbed your drunken stupor.

Kidding of course. I do appreciate the "just do it" attitude though. You're right.

Good luck man!

AW/IR and AW/Cinnamon in 6-speed are nearly impossible to find.

That's why I ended up with AW/Black/6-speed.... lmfao

You can find it, just have to be willing to put up a few extra bucks.

Found mine at a auction aswell. With only 42000kms on it. 6MT. Personally I think the best combo. I'm in Australia though

I'd go find a clean AW 6sp and do an interior swap. That will get you what you want much easier. Oem is always special but I don't think that you will tell the difference

Great idea. Just seats and panels. If you don't need a "numbers match" concours winner than this would be nearly indistinguishable from a car built that way.

I never thought of that. Sure would make the search much broader. Thanks for the idea.

This dealer is not far away from my house. I have not seen this car in person, to be fair. I have been there to see other M3s and a Porsche and I can tell you that they missrepresent their cars greatly. I would not even think of buying this car without seeing it in person and taking it for a PPI elsewhere. They have very exotic cars there but its just one of those places where the prices are unbeatable until you find out why.

Found it; sorta'

I took the advice you guys gave and 1)went out and looked and 2) found a good one, with the interior color not a priority.

Bought a 2003 Alpine White/Black, 6 MT with 77,189 miles.

Had a tremendous buying experience at Hampton Exotics in Shirley, NY and can't say enough about Jeff Berg, one of the owners. He went above and beyond every step of the way, from initial email/phone call, to my trade-in, to helping make finances/financing work toward the goal. Nothing like buying from a fellow enthusiast.

Also thanks to someone on the forum who mentioned J.J. Best Banc as they were happy to finance the car where others were not even close. Also very professional and easy to deal with for financing.

In the end, I have a car that I just love, mechanically great, new clutch, shifts beautifully, paint and interior also tremendous and serviced before sold. Working on some VMR CSL-look wheels and all will be right in the world. Will see if can swing a trade for cinnamon or imola interior, but will be just as content to keep the black.

If you are anywhere near Shirley, NY, you owe it to yourself to buy from people like this; where the sale is secondary to making someone happy with their "new" car.

Congrats man. White is hard enough to find. I have looked for interiors also back in the day and can tell you that nobody will swap their red or cinamon for black. people who want that swap also want about $1000-$1500 on top from you. That being said, there are a few for sale on this forum right now. But I started liking my black interior and wouldnt spend the money.
