They smelled meth...

http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2013/...derly-husband/

Quote:
PASADENA (CBSLA.com) — The widow of an elderly man who was shot and killed by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies Friday announced a $50 million lawsuit against the department and the Coroner’s office.

The suit alleges the department murdered her husband and the Coroner disposed of his body without her consent.

According to court documents filed on behalf of 48-year-old Tonya Pate, Sheriff’s deputies claimed her husband, Eugene Mallory, was operating a meth lab in their Littlerock home. The documents allege deputies stormed the property on June 27 and fatally shot the 80-year-old six times while he was lying in bed.

“The deputies were executing a search warrant based on clearly false information; one prepared by an “expert deputy” who had during a purported surveillance, smelled meth chemicals for “four days” coming from Mallory’s home and that he concluded that the home was a clandestine methamphetamine lab,” court documents stated.

$50 million isn't enough.

Wait. She's 48 and he was 80?

I read this story a couple a couple weeks back and they supposedly have a son that cooked meth at that house without the knowledge of the parents. So the old man was killed mistakenly.

i'm leery that the search warrant was signed by a judge because an officer "smelled meth". no judge would sign that. and for four days- they were sitting on the house for something. the article is not complete.

Clearly what we need is more authority for police officers. If they had the right to shoot someone for no reason this wouldn't have happened.

If this is true, then this is a totally different scenario. Do you have a link? Maybe the story was discredited and has disappeared.

Actually if you watch the video the lady says her son had a medical card and was growing pot for himself, then an official comes on and describes it as "marijuana grow house."

Truth.

Him being 80 is largely irrelevant. Being in bed is largely irrelevant.

A deputy is quoted as saying he pointed a gun at cops. Did he own a gun? Was a gun found at the scene? In his hand? What was entry to the house like?

It's weird that the ME "didn't know" they were married, too. Especially if she lived with him, how does the ME not find next of kin when she's in the same house?

Lots of missing info.

If it went down as she's alleged, I hope she cleans their clocks. If she's just doing a money grab, I hope she gets nothing.
