dwass325: now with crossfit

Per Mike's (sollyd) request, and because I'm now a card-carrying, Kool-Aid drinking CrossFitter, this will be my workout (mainly CrossFit) log.

Deadlift: 405lbs
Squat: 385lbs

1 x 2 @ 175lbs
1 x 1 @ 195lbs

Deficit HSPU and muscle ups

I've been wanting to start doing x-fit. There's a local affiliate within a mile of my house, but it's expensive.

What did you just call it? lol

I think you'd like it. It is expensive, I'm assuming 3x the price of the gym you go to now but you get a trainer every single class, you get an environment that will help you succeed, and you can then talk about all the fun stuff you'll do, with us.

Was on the road Sunday through Wednesday, just did bodyweight exercises (pushups, situps, squats) in the hotel room each morning.

Thursday, November 7, 2013

high/regular/low power cleans
3 of each at 135lbs
2 of each at 155lbs
1 of each at 175lbs

Ten minutes of:
200 singles
600m run
30 burpees
Row (got 349 meters)

The run was outside...and it was in the mid-30s. My body was not ready for that after four days of Orlando's mid-80s.

Can you explain how the power cleans were done. I know of hang cleans that are low, normal, and high but not power cleans. Unless that's what you meant.

Overhead Squat
15:00 build to 1RM - only got 185lbs. Was getting lightheaded. This is a difficult move for me.
de-load to 80% of 1RM
3 sets for max reps OTM

MetCon:
6 Rounds
1:00 MAX reps - Burpee
1:00 MAX reps - Double Under
REST 2:00

My totals were 103 burpees and 163 equivalent DUs (sub 3 singles for 1 double)

I need to learn the OHS. I think I'd tip over at this point. That metcon is a cardio killer. I like it though. In 6 minutes you got 103 burpees? That's a lot man. I did 100 straight in 9 minutes. Can you not do double unders yet?

The OHS is a great movement. If you do them in higher reps, they actually end up working your abs a lot.

During that metcon I was breathing really hard at the end of each round. Granted, we got two minutes rest between rounds, but I started sweating like mad in round three.

I can do double unders but not reliably.

And yes, I did 103 in six minutes, but that workout had a total of ten minutes if rest. It's not the same as six straight minutes. I was flying through them...and trying to put up bigger #s to shut up one of the coaches I like to talk trash with.
