A man clearing a rifle in the parking lot chambered a round by accident and then dropped the hammer sending a 5.56 round in to the side walk about 5 feet from the door. I was behind the counter in front of the damaged metal and caught shrapnel in the leg. A customer standing at the counter in front of the door caught glass in his side and a rock put a nasty slash in his holster. Nobody was seriously hurt and the man who pulled the trigger was shaken.

Accidents happen, double check and be safe!

Honestly I'm just as surprised you guys had tempered glass for your storefront. A sheet of laminated would of cost 30-50$ more for the front door.

I got schooled on arfcom about that, every other post

Makes 0 difference to me but I changed it for here so every other post woundnt end with the poster setting behind his computer with a S*it eating grin on his face

He got the concrete. The part that hit me was about 1/4th the size of a dime. Small pebbles were everywhere inside, against the back wall. Never found a trace of the projectile, just chunks of the side walk.

Accidents happen. You know, like tripping and falling on the sidewalk.

Launching a round out of your rifle when you don't mean to is not an accident. It's outright dumbshittery. The thing I like about training with high level training groups is that if any student launches a blatant ND like that, they're gone immediately.
During my Army days, there were several troops that had ND's, and they were the embodiment of negligence or outright dumbassery.
There's sort of a trend when it comes to people who have ND's. I think that your customer likely fits neatly into this trend when you dissect who he really is.

I agree!!! Glad nobody got hurt. I am sure you washed your jeans after that....I would have shite mine. I used to do reports on stuff like that in the military....we called them all AD though....LOL. Most were done by armorers or MP/SP. Oh....I got some good stories to tell, but not on a message board.

I hope you guys put laminated glass instead of tempered, that would of saved you from debris coming inside and hitting people.

Sorry for low quality pic. Pic of laminated glass at one of my stores, it took over 20 blows with a brick for the guy to get a hole big enough to crawl through and the glass did not shrapnel.

nope. It was really embarassing. People see your patch and say "oh hey did you hear what your CSM did?"

Yes. Yes, I did. Thank you for reminding me. Do you happen to have a vacancy I can move to?

It really wasn't scary, our machinist and several others was shaken up pretty bad but the two of us that were close kept calm. I saw right away through the window that it was an accident but others thought we were being attacked.

Had a bit of a adrenaline rush several minutes after but it was more of a "I cant believe that just fIn happened" after it set in how close we came. I thought I got hit pretty bad from the sting (how you cant really feel a bullet at first sometimes) I knew I got hit but didn't know how bad. me and the other guy were just running our hands over our bodies looking for blood... I"M GOOD!
