Ever have to explain a mod to someone?

Driving my coworkers to lunch and the gal asks "why is your car so loud?" I say because I put in an aftermarket exhaust. She looks at me and says "you paid for your car to make this racket? I can barely have a conversation in your car?" I nod.

Guy in the back (I know), asks "Did it increase hp?" "No not really" I answer.

Gal says "So you paid extra money for something that didn't make your car faster and is obnoxiously loud?" Gives me a look for idiots and simpletons.

I nod and say, "ya, but listen to that exhaust."

An exhaust can sound good without being so loud you cannot talk over it. Too many think louder == better.

Its not that loud. The problem is they all drive Lexus or Acuras and are used to the plushness and relative quiet of their vehicles. Its only a B&B for gods sake with stock section 1 and 2. Is it louder than stock? Yes. But straight pipe loud no way.

Was going to but I can live with my noise maker until I do get another exhaust. Kinda want to see what it will sound like when I put on my headers. Thankfully my ///M isn't my daily driver

Non car people don't understand mods. At that point its usually fun to just troll them mildly depending on how much they mean to you

Well, that is why having an EVC is so great. Loud when you want it to be and quiet for when you get pulled over for being too loud. You can even open it a little bit and have a nice not too loud exhaust note. Now I need to find a quiet muffler.

this is everything to me. If not under WOT you can "barely have a conversation" than that's no longer a all around useful DD.

cant wait to install my dump pipe so at least i will be able to control when i want a convo ended lolol

just saw this and exactly what i was saying in my post. I cant wait to get my midpipe with the evc.

my suggestion to you is to go back to the oem muffler to have it queit-ish. I went back to oem from magnaflow and im enjoying it a lot more (also have a euro section 1) and with the dump pipe i will be back to a aftermarket sound when i wait to be and still quiet when i need to be (cold starts, night driving, job parking lot, etc).

yeah i really wish i didn't hack up my old muffler lol. it sucks that mufflers are so expensive. i think the only cheap ones are the top speed/meganracing and status gruppe mufflers.

i heard the dinan muffler is pretty quiet and maybe the hamann but they're all over $1000 unfortunately.

i think i might get rid of my rasp terminators as well, i really miss the crazy loud declaration when the valve is open. the resonator or rasp terminator makes everything more civilized and I don't know if I like that on the M3. without the RT, it sounds like a chain saw in low revs but its music to my ears at high revs and decels. the RT does the opposite; good sounds at low revs not so good at high.

wait maybe I can get someone to fabricate 2 EVC right where section 1 connects to the headers holy ****

Difference between stupid loud ass exhaust and a good sounding exhaust as well as a difference between sports car ignorant people.

Tell these people to get the walking if they don't like it.
