Engine Swap Cars

So this is obviously self serving, but I have an E46 323 shell. Putting a 330 engine and brakes in are not a big deal, and it would be nice to not have to replace the car to run this class.

That of course leads to the engine management question.

Will there be any provision for swapping engines?

For the most part we're still working on that, but the answer is likely going to be "yes, but..." :-)

An e46 chassis should be an e46 chassis for the most part. The question is how many other parts would you have to swap to make it exactly the same as a 330? We don't know the answer well yet, but as we've seen in the other Spec BMW classes - odds are this will be allowed, just a pain for the car owner to convert everything. You'd need the right engine, harness, ecu, suspension, brakes, etc, etc, etc.

If you're willing to be the guinea pig, we'd love to get a list of things that need to be changed!

I'm seriously considering going at it. It only makes sense if you have a caged shell to start with, but, well, I do. I'll be looking for a donor car now. You definitely have to have a donor car to do it economically, but that should (hopefully) not be too challenging.

Or, if we could come up with suitable swap software, the MSS42 will run a B30 just fine.
