What is a good Hashrate? I float between 1800-2400 hashes per second on a solo dig.

How long does this take?

I am a complete crypto noob

edit: I thought you meant 1800Khashes.

I'm ~60khashes/second on one machine and ~24khashes/second on another, both CPU mining.

Running this on an old mac I have not used in 5 years... figured I'd just run it 24/7 and see what happens. I cant find a pool that works. Tried dogepool.net and fast-pool.com neither worked for me.

Edit: dogepool.net

I'm on cryptovalley and coin something, I can't remember the full name. Are you sure you're running the script correctly?

Yeah, doing everything as stated in the "getting started" guides. My comp might be too old and not supported by miners like cgminer, etc.

It sounds like you're not entering your username/worker/password correctly.

cgminer runs in terminal so you kind of have to know what you are doing. I apparently don't know sh*t which is why I couldn't get it to work right.

you'll need the minerd process, not cgminer. Or use Asteroid, follow the guide in the OP

Might have figured out my issues. I had $ symbol in my password and it was throwing off the coding in terminal...

Asteroid can CPU mine? I've been using terminal to mine qrk. But I don't know how to mine anything else. I figured I could just plug in the values for doge but it didn't work

Are you part of the pool or doing a solo mine? I have no idea how big a block is.

It's no longer profitable to mine Dogecoin; http://www.coinwarz.com/

edit: well it is, but there are more profitable coins.

If you do want to keep mining and being profitable, you can join pools like www.middlecoin.com or www.hashco.ws, they automatically mine the most profitable coin and payout in Bitcoin.
