Straight pipes

I want to make my E46 louder (as possible basically) , what are my options? I haven't really looked very hard, because I wanted owners opinions.

You can run straight pipe. It will probably damage your hearing over time. I had straight pipes on my 318 (4 cylinder) and you could hear it from a few miles away. Pretty stupid IMO.

That sounds beautiful, I would love to damage my hearing. Loud ass cars are my niche.

I have the Highline Tuning full exhaust. ~$700 and it sounds perfect. Not too loud at all but definitely not quiet. Has a nice tone to it. I'm in love with it. Straight pipes wouldn't sound good and it'd be a cheap setup.

Most likely won't be able to pass emissions without cats, but with a full cat-back you'll be fine.

Re: Straight pipes

In anyones opinion, whats the loudest, cheapest legal set-up?

I'm a guy who loves loud cars, but doesn't have a ton of money to budget with.

Sell your car and buy a honda. A BMW should have a clean and refined exhaust note. If you want loud for cheap run open headers.... Total cost $0

Here's what a muffler delete sounds like on a 325.

Then why do you want straight pipes? I just said you could hear it from miles away with a 4 cylinder. That's obnoxious. I felt bad driving that in town. During the day.

Do a muffler delete and see how you feel about it. I've heard the uuc exhausts are fairly loud.

Mystery Exhaust Problem

I need help, when my car get hot as in driven hard or up hill for a few minutes the exhaust sounds like it has a hole in it roughly under the front seats. But when it cools down or is driven normal for a while it goes back to normal!!
I'm yet to get underneath and have a look but thought someone may be able to shed some light on the situation?

You basically created a bottleneck effectively choking out your engine. Try breathing normally, then breath through a straw and tell me which is easier. Some back pressure is required on a n/a motor but not in excess like you have done.

There is your problem. Search and you'll find your answers. In my opinion do it right... if you want loud, get a nice catback system with headers. I'm running a UUC TSE3 full catback and it is pretty loud when you want it to be with no drone inside.
