Evo's Build Thread (TiAg 328i)

Hey all, guess I should start a build thread... So here it is!

Starting from the beginning... this is honestly the only picture I had of it when it was %100 stock. No bueno:

I then decided to change as much of the front as I could to start things off.

First came clear corners and smoked side markers (I meant to order clear side markers, but I made a mistake... I don't mind the smoked though):

The came angel eyes, of course. Orion V2's from Umnitza - a tad too bright but I'm not picky.

During install:

And after!

I then painted the slats of the kidney grills black. Since I'm going for a brighter theme that flows more with the silver, I didn't think all black kidneys would look too great.

This is how it sat for a long time:

Then I spent a few hours doing a complete detail, and I found out I'm not the greatest with detailing.

Then we picked up a brand new Mk. 6 GTI Driver's Edition!

Spotted an Alpina Z8 in a middle school parking lot

Then I went mad and straight piped the E46... not going to discuss that further.

My friends and I found our new favorite photography spot at this point (but we only had our phones at the time):

And then I decided to start spicing up the interior, engine bay, and rear end.

Bought a ZHP shift knob and CF strut bar from ECS Tuning (excuse the crappy phone pics... and the filthy engine bay):

And finally, I tinted the tail lights red (still can't decide between R/C/R tails and LED tails).

Before (and quite dirty after the mountains):

During:

After, when I realized having tint over the reverse lights wasn't a great idea:

And now the car is here, still looking almost completely stock lol:

And before anyone tells me to take care of the cooling system... Already done. I made a point to make sure all the maintenance is as up-to-date as I can get it.

Coming after winter: ST coilovers and VMR VB3's

Can't wait to see it after the coils and vb3's! What happened to your center caps?

Neither can I!! Two of the center caps went missing and I thought it looked weird with only two left, so I took the others out.

Smoked corners would look better IMO, the silver and clear clash with each other. Also not a fan of those angel eyes.

This is coming from someone whose first 2 mods were aftermarket clear corners, and blue angel eyes.

Yeah I've been starting to think that lately. Either I'll get smoked corners or I'll paint the headlight inserts silver. And the angels aren't blue, they're white in person, I swear!

BTW I'm in love with your e46.

Just an update: got some goodies expected to ship by the end of this month! No pictures for now but I'll update when the mods really start flying in.

Very nice car man, I have the exact same one! Something about a pre facelift sedan looks so elegant to me, and with a few subtle mods I think it really stands out in a crowd. Here are some pics of mine:

Before suspension overhaul and rims:

I personally liked the smoked corners better on the silver as well, and I think the all black kidney grills work well also. I would also get those DRL's deactivated sine you have the angel eyes.

You got a CSL boot at a junkyard?? Wow you're lucky man, get it painted!

Anyways an update (no real pics till tomorrow) - got smoked corners and a license plate delete strip. I ended up picking up a CSL bumper that I didn't want since I like my fogs too much (waiting on an M3 bumper to come along). See sig for a small update... Also I'm at a point where the engine is basically %100 maintained.

Looking good so far... I'd like to paint the trunk but I hate to cover up the carbon fiber because it looks so nice in person. I wish my state didn't require a front license plate so I could do the delete strip as well.

My car has been running well for about the last 6 months up until this past Friday when my CVV failed and blew out my valve cover gasket! I ended up buying a $500 beater car to drive around in and ordered all my parts this weekend to do the job myself when it warms up. I will be doing the Vanos seals at the same time so it will be a pretty massive DIY!

I just hit 120,000 miles still on the stock CVV just for a heads up... I had been thinking of replacing it for the last couple of years but thought I would push my luck a few more months, big mistake.

Wow that's no fun... I'm sorry to hear that. I think I'm on the stock CVV and I'm at 137k Probably should look into that.

Here in CO we are required to have a front plate but with mine in the window I haven't gotten any trouble from cops (yet)
