You had such a great start with your maintenance that you could've ended up with a very nice, reliable, and great performing e46.
It's not like OP has some super rare edition car that needs to be taken care of. These cars a dime a dozen now and you kind of have to expect teenagers (as I'm expecting OP to be 16-18) to be picking these up. I don't necessarily do a ton of preventative maintenance either, it's a poor use of money IMO. I'd rather save up for stuff that breaks. Something that breaks while driving is no big deal, and the car won't be destroyed if one knows how to manage an issue.

Most teenagers rice out their first car if they have the funds to do so. What kid wants to add a new cooling system when theirs isn't even broken when they can get a Dynavin, or some new wheels? Not many I'm assuming. Most teens are just figuring out what looks good and what doesn't. I'm sure my e39 wouldn't have been pretty if I had the funds like OP has.

OP already got rid of those gaudy front grills, that's a plus. Got rid of his first set of wheels, that's a plus. Got an M-tech II, that's a plus. Did some maintenance while having fun.. better than none at all.

All he needs to do is get rid of the red engine accents, un-red his brake calipers, Match his seats to the red doorcars.. or paint the doorcards back to black, get some decent coilovers and his ride won't be that bad.

Kid's gon kid. They'll learn.

+1. I never did preventative maintenance when I was a teen, thats for sure! A house, wife, and two kids later, its all I do. Part of life.

Agreed.

If the OP's cooling system blows up he'll find another M54 and drop it in. I heard BMW made quite a few 325s...

You post a thread here and you open yourself up for shots, but most of you people are just like a bunch crabby whiners. Yeh, I don't care foe the red wheels or striped grills either, but it's obvious he likes the car and enjoys working on it. He's dealing with maintenance as it comes up. Constructive criticism without the vitriol would be nice, but that's not the way this forum works.

I am all for maintenance and I keep spares of every known issue for the E46 (and now the E70 M) but I will not replace the item just because a certain number of miles or time has passed

Honestly, the red wheels don't bother me nearly as much as the red accents in the engine bay.

The only thing that bothers me about this is how many pvssy whine ass people there are here. Acting like this is an ultra rare machine you all have. No wonder these things break so often, it's to keep your mouths shut.
Guy spent alot of time on his car and did a good job and you all are acting like royalty in saudi. LOL. Pathetic.

The car looks great! I like how unique it is. There's too many OEM lovers on this site. They don't mind their e46 looking like everyone elses e46 lol. Tasteful mods.

Did you really just call red rattle-can interior tasteful? Yeah, you definitely need to buy a Civic.

Look if ya can't handle the criticism ya shouldn't post up. What we have here on this forum are ricers vs. traditionalists. As a traditionalist, I see all of the plastidipping and red rattlecanning and use of swap meet wheels as defacement. Truth is yeah one can do whatever they want to with their car. But that doesn't make it tasteful, and posting here with sh*tty rattlecan 'accomplishments' and expecting everybody to jerk you off and tell you what a hero you are is unrealistic. The fact that these cars are cheap now is beside the point. I guess according to your logic TRD we should all just go apesh*t with our nice clean BMWs because you said they're cheap and worthless so WTF right? Why are you here trolling anyway. Are there no TRD forums for you to go and be a part of?

Do you have a SoGood sticker on the rear driver's side passenger window? I think I've seen your car around but not with red wheels

I couldn't have said it any better than this.

People should have enough common sense to know that spray painting everything on their BMW isn't going to get them great comments on a BMW enthusiast forum. If you don't want to hear the replies, then don't put pictures up. To be honest there is nothing informative about threads like these and all they do is get people all in an uproar and arguing about what is right and what is wrong. I wonder if there are forums for people that take cars and "pimp them out" or whatever the hell you call it. That would be great for some of you guys. At this point most of the BMWs here aren't a BMW anymore anyway so there should be a place for car guys to go and show off their hacked up cars. No matter what the make of the car all would be welcome. That way the "true BMW enthusiasts" don't have to look at our beloved cars all chopped up, slammed down, pimped out, painted up, and stanced out.
