iīm more into smooth torque delivery then into highest hp figures.

just like everyone said, go the TT route and instead of 300 at the crank, you'll have 300 at the wheels

i donīt want 300 at the wheels as iīm driving a auto gearbox

sorry for the confusion my question was generating: i donīt want a bolt-on kit, iīd rather build the kit myself.

i just would like to know if anyone can recommend a appropriate turbocharger for my needs.

You are starting at the wrong end.

Try to figure out your tuning, then go from there.

Most people end up back at the TT kit.

I have done a 330i Automatic, and started with the TT kit running just 6psi. On a Dynojet, the car made 260rwhp...which is pretty close to your target.

Customs kits will cost much more than bolt on kits.

Custom kits are proven and tested.

Just ask Nick G to de-tune to your power level.

just buy a E46 M3 and be happy with it.

Du kannst auch einen M3 kaufen und mit 343 original Pferden weiterfahren

If I had a dollar for everytime someone wanted to do a custom setup on a 330...seriously dude we can 't sugar coat it anymore for you...custom will be a long, hard, expensive road with the 330. Listen to PEI330CI as he has been going down that road for years but has different goals...if you want to have 300 crank hp and actually drive the car without it blowing apart go with the TT kit...otherwise we warned you.

And again a thread is getting a horrible end... why is everyone so rude? i just would like to know if there are some known specs from turbos which fit my needs.

i donīt want to be warned, nor doesnīt i know what to do. i donīt want to argue about my knowdlegde nor about my skills. thats not on the task list at all.

@T_T_S54

So, i really like to get back to topic! if theres anyone able to tell me if its a good idea to use e.g. GT28RS at 3L let me know.

otherwise stick with your opinion, please.

Daniel,
300 ps / Deutschland / ASA / G Power. Ende.

3.0 Liter and GT2871 is a good combination.

How many km on the engine?

Do a compression and leak down tests before turbocharging.

Which ecu will you use? Get Moristech, its affordable and Works on M54.

Most people that have tried to make a custom turbo setup have stalled out when they realize how "difficult" the E46 ECUs are to tune when compared to the "usual" turbo cars like Toyotas, Hondas, GMs, etc. If you've got a good solution for that, then by all means, go for it. That's just the biggest roadblock to most people.

No one on here knows what you're capable of, but the majority of the people that post on here "I wanna do a turbo but I wanna do a custom kit" are saying that because they think they can do it cheaper than some of the big companies. Granted, that's usually the case on other platforms, but it's seldom true here. Yes, this forum isn't tolerant of fools, and unfortunately, they assume everyone is a 16 year old with their first car until proven otherwise.

People are not being rude.

People are being honest.

Go with something proven. It's not the cheapest route, but if you consider your time worth ANY money, you CANNOT beat the value of Nick's kit.

End of story.

-Matt

PS I started with the kit, am customizing it now, and by far more time, effort, money, etc are being put into the items after the kit as delivered...As delivered it will be awesome for OP's desires.

The first and most important question you should ask is: "What am I going to do about tuning"?

I have a Strong feeling that Daniel has the ability to "tune" his own custom turbo, or at least a pretty good shot at it.

if that's the case he should have enough knowledge to pick the appropriate turbo. Is it really that hard, just pick a smaller turbo try out your kit and go from there
