Coolant leak problem.

Hello I just bought a 1999 323i about a month ago and I discovered a coolant leak. It looks like a crack at the bottom of the expansion tank. It also looks like the clips are off set or it's been set back because one of the belts is just rubbing on the tank itself. Any advice? I'm going to a buddies today to take it apart. I'm pretty sure I just have to replace the expansion tank and the rubbing belt. Any advice would be appreciated

Several schools of thought on this one, some say replace the expansion tank (do it ). Others say do a coolant system overhaul. Look for Mango's posts about full replacement and search the threads on just replacing what is broke. Bottom line is no matter what path you take the expansion tank has to go. And welcome to the forums.

Thanks friend just ordered it along with a new water pump. I had to replace water pump on my old 325i e46 and it's actually quite easy.
