I didn't know how much my body was missing before I tried these two lifts, the most notorious being flexibility. That's where it has to start. Take a look at the "candle squat" position here, which will test your overall flexibility:

I bet unless you have specifically been working on it, you can get anywhere close to being parallel, let alone going any lower. Try it. Link to full article with other tests:

Yeah it is. I competed a couple weeks ago and saw some really good child lifters. If they'd keep at it, they will grow to be monsters.

I meant of you. Can you check out my snatches on the page before? I know some things I need to work on. More upright torso. Bar closer to body.

Ok here is the first vid I've ever posted on Youtube (just now lol).

In this vid:
1. 70kg on the bar (I believe)
2. Nursing some knee pain (excuse)
3. Prepping for competition I had a few weeks back
4. Focusing on my second pull (fast)

Not the best in technique as I'm not very fluid in this vid. But it's better than when I started.

Ok a couple things I notice:

Just like your CJ, focus on the first pull being controlled (which may seem slower) and keep your back straight through the pull. Knees back, and as soon as the bar comes to the top of the knee, push your knees forward while pulling the bar into you hips for the explosive second pull.

You should focus on getting under the bar as well. Pull your self under and get comfortable squatting under the bar while its over head.

Keep the bar close to the body, as not to chase it on the platform (hoping forward, which you are not doing). I'll post a vid of me hopping forward (which used to be a big issue of mine).

Not trying to throw a crap ton of cues, but just sharing what I know.

Here is a photo the bearded beast James Tatum (GO USA!) and his Snatch form. Notice how close the bar is and his hip extension.

Does anyone have a flexibility routine that they can recommend? I am doing a few stretches time to time, but I feel like I should take this more seriously and stick to a program.

K Star or Supple Leopard is not bad in my opinion.

At least his recommendation of trying to sit and hold a squat for a minute or so each day.

For someone just interested in general health, with looking good and getting stronger....is it worthwhile learning how to c&j and snatch? As opposed to other basic lifts
