In SC there is zero emissions or inspections. You can pretty much drive anything here. Hell you see backyard build dune buggies with tags.

Your states that tend to be more Democratic/liberal will have stricter laws in place for regulations and safety. NY, CA, IL, etc.

Just an observation over the years.

Not even mentioning the efficiencies of larger countries.

As divided as this country is, at least we are one.

In NH they basically take your car apart and put it back together, I've failed with my truck for wheel bearings, my wheels/tires and almost failed for a control arm that I had another mechanic look at and said it was fine.

The inspections are big money makers for Indy shops and if they get caught passing cars that should fail they have their rights to do inspections taken away and get fined.

MA is a little more lax.

Importing it into the US is all on the Federal level. It's Federal emissions and crash requirements that must be met, nothing to do with the states themselves. It won't make it past the border/ port without meeting the requirements.

Sounds like its possible to import many foreign cars but it's a huge hassle and very expensive. http://www.cbp.gov/xp/cgov/trade/bas...orting_car.xml

Which country and states has the least vehicle regulation/laws in general?

Really? I was under the impression NH is easy to pass state inspection? MA is on par with CA. Anything aftermarket is illegal.... Obviously that completely depends on who inspects your vehicle.

NH is very thorough, although it also depends on where you go.

Also failed with my e46 for tint up in NH, but insurance isn't required up there but it's cheap as **** if you do get it.

CA emissions and vehicle inspections is why I would never move there. Nothing is stock and all the emissions equipment have been disabled and removed.

Just wish they would allow front windows to have tint, It gets hot here in the summer too!
Troof. NJ has eliminated the safety inspection (the one that keeps the roads safe by making sure people don't drive around with busted headlights, cracked windshields, 3 tires, gas leaks, etc, but kept the emissions inspection (a completely irrelevant and worthless inspection)....and they do that solely for the purpose of fleecing people for money. My s2000 passes in Nj without issue...straightpipe, turbo, atmospheric BOV dump, etc. The guys at the shop laughed their ass off (they all have modded rides) saying how dumb NJ inspection laws are. So long as you don't have a check engine light on (same in NY) you're good to go.

Laws here in the UK quite strict but does mean the cars are safer. We have a legal tyre tread depth of 1.6mm but if caught by the one time it can cost you 3 points for each tyre, max of 12 points b4 b&

In manitoba (canada) we don't have inspections or emissions testing, unless you want to sell/buy a car it must some with a "safety" inspection. the 15 year rule sucks as well.

Here we got yearly safety inspection but no emission testing. Safety inspection is pretty strict and it checks following:
Tires
Suspension and brakes
All light and visual signalling
Structural integrity (certain parts can't be rusted out, such as rocker bottom panels, etc)
Glass

They do not care about windows tint, missing front plates, illegal exhausts with no cats, lowered cars, or any other aftermarket mods, etc

Inspection stickers can easily be bought, so to speak, but most people do get them inspected in legal way and fix what's needed.
