My Ride: 330i ZHP, MINI JCW
Best option for track event - 2004 330i ZHP or 2012 MINI Cooper JCW

I have been autocrossing my MINI and plan on continuing to autocross it this come year. I also want to do a track weekend.

What would you take to the track? The BMW or the MINI? The MINI has dedicated autocross pads which should be fine for a first track event. The BMW will be getting/needs new rotors and pads for the track as well as a brake flush. Tires are a heck of a lot cheaper on the MINI but on the open track I have a feeling the BMW will be more fun, where as the MINI is more fun for my autocrossing.

My Ride: A Car
A friend and I swapped cars at the ring. He took my e46 around and I took his Mini S with KWs. I thought the Mini was fun as hell. I would take the Mini.

I've seen too many M54B30s fail at the track. Mini if it were me...just my opinion.

1) Long straight away
2) High RPM
3) Harmonic vibration comes in
4) Oil pump fails
5) Engine light comes on
6) M54B30 motor is now DEAD

Accurate & true.

Good luck,
Rob43

Thought this would happen in combination with a long sweeper. Anyway it's a $10 fix or just drill the nut. I've had no problems tracking the E46, except overloading the brakes, so I ordered some Hawk HT-10 for the next track day.

Not trying to be rude, but I'm laughing at that statement. Plus you're giving bad information to others by making it.

Spend an evening searching Oil Pump Failure hear on E46F, you'll learn a lot.

Good luck,
Rob43

Cool.

Didn't know OP was entering SpecE46. Secure the nut and have fun on the track.

Right on, you literally wrote the book on it. I was referring to the oil pump nut backing out.
