- Photo Competition Opinions -

Could you guys do me a favor?

(No I do not think I'm a super good photographer who should definitely win this competition. I'm just entering for fun)

My college has a yearly art magazine that students can submit to. You can submit 10 pieces of work. Literally anything. Poetry, photography, clay models etc... Anything.

So I'm going to submit some of my photos and photos of my phone cases. I have some chosen out but it's always great to have other people tell me which they think are my best photo(s) to submit.

If you like one over the others but don't like the editing then tell me and if I have the original I can try to re-edit it.

Here is a link to my flickr you can look through.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/109685229@N03/

Here are some of the ones I think are in my top.

Uploading all my photos right now to flickr. As in all the photos I have taken so far. The loading will take about 15 minutes haha.

Halfway uploaded,

If you have the time, please tell me what your top 10 would be.

Snowy day is my favorite by far, nice framing. Problem is like Gabe said, most are under exposed. I suggest reedits along with using your new watermark.

Thanks seth, I did re-edit the one of the girl which he said was too dark (I haven't uploaded the re-edit to flickr yet). I'll wait to re-edit certain ones that ya'll or I think should be in the top 10.

Any others?

I would like to win, but I don't want to embarrass everyone by completely gaining the vote of every judge

That's one thing I was trying to decide. Do you like orange eye or orange eyed lizard better?

The phone case shots aren't "photography" shots. They are "art" or "design" shots. The competition isn't just for photography.

I'll upload snowy girl again now.

I sharpened both the eyes and the hood in ps. Should I just sharpen the eyes and not hood?

I respectfully disagree with my esteemed colleague cowmoo. I think Orange Eyed Lizard is better.

IMHO Orange Eye needed a tiny bit more DOF so the crest on the back of the head would be as sharply focused as the eye. OEL has a lot more of the lizard's body in the frame, most of which is out of focus, so the fact that the crest on his head is out of focus "matches". Plus the claws are better.

To me, her right eye appears sharply focused, but her left eye (on the right in the pic) looks a little blurry. If her brightly colored eyes weren't the most important part of the pic, and they weren't so starkly contrasting the rest of the pic, it might not matter as much. But they are, and so it does.

Thank you for the advice. I sent in the 10 entries today. We'll see what happens
