Exclamation E46 M3 VF stage 2 3.91 or 4.10 diff ?

I am looking to upgrade my E46 M3 to me it is not fast enough

just installed TOYO 888 R so it hold well in the second gear

now it is time for diff upgrade

should I go with 3.91 or 4.10 ?

will I lose the first gear with 4.10 and will be slower in 1/4 mile drage race ?

4.10 may be too low, 1st may be unusable. id run a 4.10 on a NA car but not boosted. Although its a totally different car, my e30M comes stock with 4.10s and im about to throw a s52 to in, ill need to change the diff to low 3s (3.xx), if I don't 1st wont be usable. I would assume a blown S54 with 4.10s would be similar.

+1 Go with the 4.10's. They really wake the car up.

When I went from stock to 4.10's it wasn't as drastic of a change as everyone made them out to be. The car still remains very drivable and alot more fun! A friend of mine had 4.10's in his vert with an older Active kit (gen 4 I believe) makes around 440whp and his car is very manageable. I think they complement the linear power delivery of a SC S54 very nicely.

I am planning to do stage 3 next year my car already made 489 WHP

does that mean that after building my engine I need to return to 3.91 ?

You're better off going for 3.91 as 4.10 might be too short for you, first gear bye bye.

with FI power it is already gone since the shifting of the SMG is not that fast

after a lot of racing with my friends I found when I start in second gear in low speed rolling will result better than the first gear

even when rolling 80km/h 2nd gear will give the same results of 3rd in long run

unless I have 6MT that will be another story

race in street i hope that you laugh more and more

More HP with the FI means slower shifts with SMG
