Snell 2005, how much longer do I have for DE's/autocross?

I have a snell 2005 HJC ARC-10 in mint condition (literally put it on once for a drag run at infineon). I was thinking of selling it since I probably won't be able to do any HPDE's this year and I'm not sure how close I am to having the rating "expire". I thought the general rule was 10 years, but I just read that the NHRA and a few other organizations give 12 years (which would give me 3 years to use it).
Unfortunately, I couldn't find much info about what many of the big HPDE organizations are considering is the expiration for the s2005.

dang, well, it looks like I will sell mine. Out of curiousity, what is a fair price for a mint (literally worn once for drags) HJC ARC-10 ($300 new) given these circumstances? I have a guy right now through craig's list who is offering $140 this weekend, but I'm not sure if I'm getting ripped off. I have no use for the helmet since I'm too focused on saving for a house to do any tracking this year.

I'd take the $140 and run. Helmets with nearly expired Snell ratings are not known for high resale value!

VIR won't take Snell 2005 any more, which I think means it's expired in general, time to get a SA2010! I found a "like new" HJC AR-10ii for $180 shipped on Amazon, it was brand new, must have been a return. There are a lot of helmets that don't look like big white egg shells out there that meet the safety ratings and have HANS anchors pre-drilled and visor options besides clear.

I have not seen rules for any clubs or tracks that do not allow 2005 helmets as of 2014. Expect 2005s to be aged out within months of the release of Snell 2015 helmets. Based on past helmet releases and rules changes, your 2005 lid will not be allowed on track in 2016.

Beyond that you have to check with individual organizations running your track days or autocrosses. SCCA Solo rules still allow M2000 and SA2000 helmets at autocrosses so your 2005 should be good enough for them until 2021. Some clubs (NASA?) allow older SA helmets to be used for race refueling if clearly marked "FOR REFUELING ONLY" or similar. Check your local club to be sure

My mistake, Snell 2005 is still allowed in Tarheel BMW CCA Chapter events for driving schools, I guess when people were mentioning "last year for Snell 2005" last Nov they were referring to 2014.

Good points on the refueling rules too. To race you need an SA helmet, the Snell only can be used as refueling and karting, and DE for now.
