Yea, they give you a pretty killer deal, especially if you use a lot of data like I do.

Combine the fact that they just bought 700mhz A block from Verizon and their coverage should start expanding more this year.

They showed some speed test app data at their last press event and had a comfortable lead over AT&T and Verizon, probably due to less congestion mostly. Sprint was a distant last. Wimax really screwed them over.

There was a cut off date for the grandfathered in when the announced they were changing to these small plans all the carriers changed to.
Before that I was upgrading every year.

May 16, 2012
- Customers will not be automatically moved to new shared data plans. If a 3G or 4G smartphone customer is on an unlimited plan now and they do not want to change their plan, they will not have to do so.
- When we introduce our new shared data plans, Unlimited Data will no longer be available to customers when purchasing handsets at discounted pricing.
- Customers who purchase phones at full retail price and are on an unlimited smartphone data plan will be able to keep that plan.
- The same pricing and policies will be applied to all 3G and 4G LTE smartphones.

I have unlimited data grandfathered in so I'm fine with them.

For reference, I have 5 lines on my plan (3 data lines, 2 standard phones). 1400 shared minutes, unlimited text and multimedia messaging.

$275/month.

I use this app called PdaNet+ on my phone for private browsing when traveling. It's stable so long as you have good signal, but depending on your use it could eat up data pretty quickly.

^ Even though it's unlimited, they still throttle you back after a certain amount of data. Running your computer through your phone isn't quite as appealing as it sounds because of that. You'll blow by the 5GB throttle level in a few days on a laptop.

Yeah, I'd only recommend it for a very light user. Emails and web browsing use very little data. However, once you get into streaming media and downloading, it stops being practical.

My gf just got good use of t-mobiles free international roaming while she was in France. If you travel it may be something to consider also. It's only 2g but it's good enough for Google maps, email, search etc all for free.

The unlimited plan includes 2.5gb of hotspot data for tethering. I assume that includes USB tethering too.

T mobile? Or AT&T?

T mobile won't throttle you unless you are killing a heavily trafficked tower during peak hours or something. It's the real deal unlimited.

I thought they both throttle after 5GB of data used.

Anyway, how's the coverage with t-mobile? That was always my concern with them.

Hmmm, AT&T doesn't have a retail unlimited plan for the iphone5. I have the same exact plan as you except for the unlimited data. Same price.

Go with straight talk att sim. No upgrades on phones but if you pay full price you are still saving $500+ a year than sticking with verizon.
