Left front window won't go down

You hear the motor running so I assume the motor works and the cable snapped.

I have replaced regulators/motors in other vehicles before but I have never pulled off a door panel that has an air bag in it.

Any tips/tricks? Any write-up available?

Thanks!

2003 325xi sedan.

Not a bad job. Do a seach as I am sure they are some DIY's out there so you can see just what to do. Just be careful its all delicate. Don't turn the key on with the air bag unplugged or the light will be on and you'll have to get it reset.

BavAuto has a DIY video on YouTube that is very detailed. It's the one I use. Otto does the right side but it's close enough to get you through it.

OK. Today's the 1st day it's been above freezing so I am working on this now.

Got all the screws out but the top of the panel won't come off. I did get the 2 screws from under the trim panel at top, it's just that the window is stuck closed so it won't pop off.

Any clues?

If its just the top ... pull up. The bottom and sides should be hanging free at this point.

Just had to start at the front of the door. Popped right off!

Now, let's get this thing finished.

Have the new one in. Got the part from Amazon. It was pretty easy once I watched that video a few times and got over the fear of airbag deployment.

The window had been going up and down slowly for 6 months so I went and bought silicon spray and spayed the tracks. The thing goes up and down as fast as the others now. Here are some pictures.

Had the same thing happen to my window. If you have a new motor and regulator, I would salvage and keep the old motor so the next regulator kit, you save money on a motor. I have an extra.
