325xi to 330xi due to blown head gasket..possible??

I have a blown head gasket and I think the engine is hydrolocked on my 2003 325xi with 225,000. I was thinking it'd be easier to just replace the whole engine and looks like a 3.0 is the same price point as a 2.5 on car-part. Will the 3.0L drop in? I've read numerous posts about switching from a 325i-330i but I'm wondering if I can go from 325xi-330xi? Also prob a silly question but mine is a 5 spd and all engines for sale are auto, any problems here?
Thanks in advance
David

^ just swap it over. You will need to either reflash or replace the DME and change out the throttle body, intake, and MAF if the new engine doesn't come with it.

Is there anything special with the AWD? What do you estimate the value of
Transmission
Seats
Wheels/tires (new)
?

What? I thought you wanted to swap in a new engine. Why are you asking about part out?

Just looking at all my options. I bought the car 2 weeks ago and now head gasket blew. Debating whether to stick more money in or try to get to even with parting it out

That depends on the condition of everything else. Care to post pics?

I just did this exact swap on my 325xi touring

I paid $1640 for the engine from a 2001 330i with 150k ( I over paid as far as I'm concerned but it runs great )

I had to swap over all of the mounts and the oil pan but it all swaps over without any issues

Motor went in smoothly, the only thing I had to change was the intake system

I bought the rubber boots new from the dealer for $40 total and picked up the intake and MAF for $20 ( a complete steal )

Exhaust manifolds are the same as well as basically everything else. Swap the motor and get the DME tuned to 330 software

Well worth the swap to me since you can't buy a 330 touring

How do you like the HP upgrade? Any snags besides what you mentioned? How long did it take you? How did you tune software to 330? Whet was your total cost?
Thx
David

HP upgrade is subjective

I went from a poor condition motor to one running correctly

I'll say i like how quick it is now but i don't know how it was before truthfully

It took a 2 days to really get the bulk of everything done. I'm taking it to a shop tomorrow to get the 330i software installed.

Total money invested is somewhere around $2500 for the engine swap. This includes new gaskets, cooling system stuff, fluids, the engine ( obviously ), and the tune.
