You can make your own fan removal tool for real cheap.

About half way down, this thread tells you how to do it.

This works like a champ! I was a bit stumped about where to get a piece of metal like that, but Home Depot carries the exact thing you need for about $5. Just be sure to ask the Home Depot people for where it is, or you'll be looking for a very long time!

You can also get the 32mm wrench at a bicycle shop for about $15. I think they called it a headset wrench and it's thin enough to fit in the tight spots. This:
