02-03 325xi, any difference?

I want to swap the interior out of my 02 full power xi into a 03 base model xi I just bought. Is there any difference in these things? I really can't find any other than the extra modes in the cluster on the 02 and power rearview. But I'd like to swap the dash and everything over. The 03 has tan interior and I'd like to put my all black interior in it.

There is no difference besides the power seats you mentioned.

But there should still be plugs there for power in the base model correct?

That I am unsure about but it is probably prewired and you could take a look.

I guess my biggest concern is the dashes.. The 03 has some whining in the dash when it's running, and I read a post on here that it could be some of the vent motors. Or something to that effect so I figured I'd take the complete dash from the 02.

All dashes are the same no matter which car they are in. Only the color is different.

Awesome, now what about the "BC" switch on the turn signal lever? My 03 doesn't have that. That's just for the digital readout for mpg and mph and such correct?

I might be completely wrong here, but your car should have a wiring harness that is made for ALL POSSIBLE OPTIONS. Years ago, wiring harnesses were made specific to the equipment that was ordered on the car, so there could be several different wiring harnesses for the same car. That was an expensive practice, especially because they had to make spares available when a wiring harness needed to be replaced. Today, most cars and trucks of the same model use 1 wiring harness that has the plugs and connection for every option that can be installed at the final assembly factory and some that are dealer installed options. THe spare plugs should be there but may be taped up so that they are harder to see/find.

Correct, and there are retrofit DIY's if you have any problems with this.

@Tomoyer that's what I first thought, but then remembered it's a BMW so who knows what's under there lol. I must other manufacturers do the multiple option harness'. And thank you Marshmellow for all your help. I'll be starting the swap as soon as the woman says I can go out and play lol. I had originally bought the 02 to put on the road, but bought it with a salvage title. At first it didn't seem like it needed all that much, basically just had a bent pas strut and needed a fender. But then the airbags. Now shop I talked to wanted to touch it unless I had new ones from BMW. So that woulda been $2,500 right there. So I bought the 03 for 3k and now I have a sweet parts car. So thanks you guys for your knowledge. I'm kinda new to the E46 scene so I'm sure you'll be hearing from me again.

Since the car has clearly had a bad crash, I would recommend replacing things such as the control arm, bushings, suspension mounts, etc. These are common wear items and if the crash did enough damage to bend a strut, these are very likely bad as well.

Yeah the crashed car is the donor car, the 03's never had a wreck. And actually the crashed one (02) really had nothing wrong, I was getting it ready for the state inspection, and it actually drives like a dream! But was going to cost me the amount of another car just to have the air bags done.

Wow that was bad. About the price of the airbags, were you going to buy new? They are cheap if bought used.

No shop said they would touch it unless the came brand new from BMW I found this place BMW of south Atlanta that has new Beemer stuff fairly inexpensive but just decided to get a car with a clean title and avoid the hassle. The 03 has 190k and the 02 has 177k, but the 03 runs so much better, plus had all the maintenance records. All it needs is the steering rack, and the one in the 02 seems mint.

So found out today that base model 325's are not wired for any option. Which kinda pisses me off because I wanted to swap the harmen system in there too and I guess that's not gonna happen unless I pull the entire wiring harness out. Ain't nobody got time fo dat. The power seats, not a big deal. Took five minutes to locate and power them, but I can only guess what kind of madness goes into the updated sound system.
