Extremely minor update: got rid of that pesky ///M badge on the back, but it's got a bit of adhesive residue left still. Gonna go pick up some adhesive removal fluid to get that off, then it's off for wheel balancing tomorrow, and a quick look over by my mechanic. He had his E46 M3 in the other day for a clean and check up, and I orgasmed looking at it. 6MT too!

Wheels rebalanced today, and while the car was up on ramps, found out what transmission I have. I have the ZF Automatic. E60 M5 was in the shop today as well. Black with Imola Red Interior. Super clean, super nice.

Eh, brake light + DSC light came on last night while I was driving. Checked that it indicates DSC failure. It was gone when I restarted the car, but reasonably sure I'll have to clean the front wheel sensors. Any other issues with that line of thought?

Also if anyone knows a solution: My cruise control doesn't work. The buttons don't work at all, while the other buttons do. I am aware that the CC buttons are linked to clockspring instead of the wiring like the media control. Anyone know any solutions?

I know it's kind of late, but a while back I was mucking about under the hood, later I went to work, and my cc wasn't working. Turns out I left my MAF unplugged. It started working again after i plugged it in.

Cheers for that. I'll look into it tomorrow. I was also thinking, it's not possible for an E46 to not come with cruise control, is it?

I go to pro car auto in North Parramatta. Mechanic is a mate of a mate. Also happens to own an E46 M3 so he knows the E46 pretty well.

my brother had same lights come one, the problem was that the brake fluid was low..

also another problem could be (as told by my bm specialist) steering angle sensor..

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they're the sensors at this point. Fluids were topped up when I took the car to my mechanic on first service, but i'm pretty sure the sensors wouldn't have been cleaned in these 11 years.

Pretty happy with the results!

Car's been starting a bit rough since it got pretty cold. Say if I start it up in the morning, it sounds a bit rough, but then it gets going pretty quick, and everything's smooth. Every subsquent start is fine as well, until the next morning. Is it just the cold, or something I should look into more?

Also hopefully I'll be able to take the car in this Saturday to get a bunch of stuff done including:

- Fuel filter; to be replaced with a Hengst
- Oil filter; same as above
- Sparks plugs; Bosch (from Clickable)
- Valve Cover Gasket + O-rings

Hopefully that should be done in not too much time. Raj, from TWD gave me a call yesterday, and I'm taking the car to him for a lookover. I'm currently unsure as to what I want done... I need to wait a bit before I drop down cash on a full detail I think, but maybe i'll be able to get some tips or the like for keeping it in a decent condition.

If it was fuel it would occur even when at NOT,seems like normal cold start, need to warm up the cats hence vanos will be timing differently

I'm using 98 from wherever I can find it cheapest. I don't know if it's fine to mix fuels a lot or not, but I usually end up going between APW (Caltex petrol I believe), 7/11 (Mobil), and occasionally Shell/Caltex/BP, with BP being the most likely of the three.

@SY$ so it's a normal thing I take. Awesome, a bit of reassurance is always good. Have you done the cooling refresh yet? I'm still yet to do mine, but a bit hestitant, haha.

Also Orion V4's are on the way down! Woo! Angel eyes!

Just check your plugs and replace if needed, but it sounds like normal warm up phase, idle would be raised and then should drop off and run smooth.

Coolant change is very simple,no need to feel hesistant at all,if unsure best leave to a qualified mechanic or.someone whos mechanically minded

Yup, sparks, fuel filter, and oil filter are being done this weekend. I honestly could do them myself at this point, I'm just lacking in tools. Have you replaced cooling system components yet? I'm not too fussed about the changing of coolant - just some parts being hard to pull out i.e. hoses and the like.

Also, read you did the 6MT/5MT swap ... how is it?

I have replaced many items on cooling system, not so much with my E46 as its only travelled 90k kms although ive done many repairs as a bm tech, nothing complex about E46,they are very easy to work on compared to the newer style motors. E46s are reliable in my opinion hence why i got one.
Yes i had done the auto to manual swap last week (5 speed) on my 330ci ,took me 5~6 hours to fully complete. Straight forward to do mechanically ,although will require coding to start the car and get rid of gear indicator light. I havnt coded mine yet as i managed to get the car up and running by fiddling with the egs and ews. Couldn't be happier, auto and manual is like day and night i my opinion, happy i did the swap
