Weird rubber found during DIY

Hey guys, I was replacing the clutch fan today and dropped the antifreeze screw down the bay. I had to remove it to get it and found another rubber piece that I have no idea where it is coming from... I have attached a few detailed pictures of "it". Any help will be greatly appreciated...

Moved your thread into general e46. Where you had it before did not pertain to our cars in anyway.

put a quarter or something next to it to give us a size reference, but I havent seen anything like that in any of the DIYs I have done.

Pretty sure that's not a part of your car. Could have been a piece of a tool or something someone dropped down there at some point.

I've worked on 100's of BMW's and never remember seeing anything like that before.

I was thinking that as well, but I dont have enough experience to make that statement.

It's one of those infamous "extra parts," that they put into cars but the car does not need. Is there a BMW logo on it anywhere?

Thanks a lot for the replies. I recently did a CCV, ICV, DISA ovehaul so it might be a part from there, but I just cant figure out from where...Yes it has BMW sign on it with the numbers 2008 on one side and 33 on the other with an arrow in the middle. I did the lower control arm bushings about a year ago... I am pretty sure it is not coming from there...
I attached a new picture with a nickel next to it to approximate the real size...

Weird rubber found during DIY

Posts 12 and 13 already correctly answered your question. It is from the front control arm bushing!

Thanks a lot duders! I will have to take a look at my bushings and hope it is not from the ones I installed last year! They are OEMs as well...Thanks again

Thats a part of oe control arm bushes. Its used to limit the movement. You can easily keep driving the car as is . It doesnt really do much.

Depending on your mileage you should change the bushes like i said before , if the bushes are fine you can keep driving without that ring

I just check, this part is currently on both bushings. This probably got there when I was changing the last set a year ago. Thanks for your input!
