Steel Blue 328ci Build Thread

Hello all, this is my 2000 328ci. I've had the car for close to a year now and I love it. The car has been great for daily purposes, I look forward to driving my car to work or to school. I Bought the car from an older gentleman. He was the original owner of this car and has enthusiast owned more than 10 BMW's ranging from 1600's and 2002's to this E46 being his most recent. I am really glad that I'll be able to continue to take care of this car like he did for many years to come. I do enjoy the stock look of the car, but it isn't enough for me. So the mods that will and have been done to this car are just to give it a little more flare, nothing major.

Pictures are more enjoyable than text, so I'll continue through that.

First day home

Some people may not be fans of the Black on tan interior, but its grown on me since having it.

The front license plate holder was removed

First "mod" was frenched high beams

Tinted tails red

Had some nice pictures taken before I got my DSLR

Painted the grills black

Painted trim black

Got clear front, side, and bumper reflectors/indicators

Some of the pictures are out of order, trying to put them together in the best chronological order that I remember. You can see that I got some of my clear stuff before the others in this pic^.

Cooling system overhaul

Broke things, its fixed now, but that was a pita

At Road America for Le Mans. I ****ing love Road America

This has all been over the past year. Now, a couple weeks ago the first of the actual mods came through:

New Wheels! 18 x 8.5 et 30, 18 x 9.5 et 35

Dat rear lip

Test fitting on stock suspension

I aplogize for the cell phone pictures, had lost my memory card for my T3i but I just got a new one in the mail

Also, got angel eyes

The plans for the near future are:

Clear top tails from another fellow Wisconsin e46'er
Eibach lowering springs
Tires for the wheels (probably ventus v12's)

Im going to run the lowering springs this summer and then begin the saving process over the winter and then purchase ST coils around next summer

Holy crap, I love what you're doing. Your signature is gold. However, in the picture with the E92 M3, it looks like your headlights have some condensation in them.

I love ambers on steel blue. Car's looking good, nice to see another steel blue/grey prefacelift coupe.

Edit: after looking closely at one of the pictures, may I suggest cleaning your exhaust tips? It'll make a huge difference.

I've tried using polishing compund, it cleans up the parts that dont have **** on them, but nothing else. Its like a bunch of tar or something built up on them. Any suggestions for cleaning them?

Also, if anyone is well versed in the realm of E46 fender rolling, please share any information you have here.

Im concerned that my 9.5in et 35 rears are going to cause rubbing. Maybe not now, or maybe not even when I put lowering springs on, but when I get coils and get as low as Im planning, Im thinking I might run into some trouble. I will probably be running a 255 on the rear. Anyone running a similar fitment feel free to chime in

Im either going M3 front bumper, or getting the one lip that they offer for these cars. Im leaning more towards M3 front, its just a matter of what I want to do with my money.

id vote against the m3 bumper... mtech2 yes! or a lip. id use the m3 hood and mirrors along with skirts, but not the bumper.

This x10000. M3 bumper on non-m looks tacky in my opinion. I had an Mtech on my old E46 which I loved. But E40SICK's lip is amazing as well. But ultimately do what you like best.

In all honesty, I really dont like the mtech II bumper that much. I dont know if its the big saggy gaping smile it looks like it has or the fact that its literally what everyone upgrades to. I like the lip, but I just feel like its one of those things that I would put on and kind of get tired of it and then rip it off. I dont know what I really want to do yet, the bumper isnt of my main concern at this point.

Im going to have to look into it more

Okay now that im visualizing it on my car, starting to like the mtech
