My Ride: E46 ///M3
The love affair with the E46 ///M3 is over...

Hi All,

I sold my E46 M3 CS on Thursday this week. She is going to a more mature couple that live in QLD (i think it will be the wife's car and she mentioned that she recently turned 60!).

Have definitely had my ups and downs through the three E46s I've owned... out of all the potential failures with these cars, i only suffered from the subframe issue in my 2002 M3, which BMW fixed under goodwill. They are definitely a really robust and reliable car if you look after them right.

I will hopefully take delivery of my newly purchased E90 M3 on Tuesday next week. When i washed the CS for the last time before putting it on a Ceva Logistics truck, I was quite certain that no other M3 would make the feel the way i do when i looked at this one.

It's such a timeless shape and style and yours was one hell of an example. I know precisely how you feel though I have the good fortune of mine not going very far away.

That said I love my E92 M3 and don't regret getting it for one minute. Interesting you've gone for the sedan. Family needs?

Thanks! I think the new owners of the CS will keep in contact with me on occasion.

And you are correct - had a baby 7 months ago, cannot be facked with kids seats in a coupe. I have also really wanted an E9X for the last couple of years.

As much as i loved my CS, the downfalls for me were that it was significantly underpowered given the output of the new generation of cars today, and i want to be able to drive it without fear of some sort of catastrophic engine/vanos/subframe failure. The E9X, from the majority of reports, seems like a super reliable rig.

Beautiful car, and gratz on the E90 M3. If I were to get another M3, it would be the E90 too. What colour did you go for? Manual/DCT? Noticed that the Manual E90s are so rare!

Thanks all.

After owning Interlagos and Sapphireschwarz (b1tchez to look after), i wanted a lighter coloured car or a colour that did not show light scratches so easily, which meant that the E90 could not be Jerez. Ended up with Silverstone II. I am not crazy about the colour, but it is mechanically sound and has most of the options i wanted. I wasn't crazy about Phoenixgelb either, but it grew on me after owning it for a while, so hoping its the same for SSII.

Having an SMG CS has converted me from always wanting manual cars to never wanting a conventional manual again - i will now always go for the double clutch option in a car, so the E90 is DCT.

Sorry to see the E46 is gone, but I can't wait to see the E90. Congrats on the new purchase.

I picked up the new rig on Tuesday, finally got around to washing it and taking a few (sh1tty) iPhone pictures.

This thing is great to drive and relatively civilized for something that has close to 500hp.
