My Ride: 2001 325i
new guy from michigan

hey all, just purchased my first bmw.

its a 2001 325i 5-speed with 92k miles

over all the car is in great shape, i dont know much about bmw's at this point, but im willing to learn.

one problem the had is bad CAB's and lower ball joints.. so i just ordered the MEYLE hd's

swapped out the non working stock radio for an aftermarket bluetooth jvc.

now onto a few things i wasnt told, and any insight as to weather im correct.

the wheels arent factory to a 2001?
looks like aftermarket halo headlights?
m3 front end swap?

I like the color, wheels are ok. Make sure you follow guides to keep up on fixing up your car! You will realize it costs a bit.

yes, i am aware of the cost upkeep. my last ride was a 2002 volkwagen vr6 with a hahn turbo setup.

i know its a lot different, but im a factory trained GM certified mechanic.

i got a late start today, but i did get the passenger side lower control arm changed. love the meyle's they are a lot beefier than stock

yes, using my herby kerby as a picture table lol.

heres some cleaned up pictures from today

as for rims, im looking at a set of 18x9 xxr 522's in the bronze color!

thanks and yes, i plan on ditching the black rims as soon as i find something i cant live without. the rims are factory silver 7 spokes that were curb rashed to death. so i plasti dipped them to look a bit better.

i also have these rims, but one has a small crack in the lip that causes air loss

What's wrong with the headlights? I don't understand.

The rims, I do understand.

The car probably had halogens originally, and a prior owner installed what you see now, which are a one piece (headlight assembly + corner turn indicator) unit that was probably made in China with suspect light output and fitment. The stock look on a pre-facelift sedan (1999-2001) looks quite different.

The wheels are the original type 44's from the Sport Package. If they were silver and in good shape, they're one of the better looking stock OEM wheels from the E46 lineup of vehicles.

the headlights fit terrible, and have a very low cut off with the projectors *about 6' in front of the car* they have gaps near the fenders, and have NO adjustability.

and the rims are okay i suppose. they are silver, just plasti dipped black. but have lots of road rash, which is why i decided to plastidip them.

here they are when i bought the car

Yeah I do mean bittersweet. But paw paw is the exit I take off of 94. So I always remember it.

I'd burn those headlights. Just go back to OEM. Ebay headlights are horrible. Yours remind me of the E39 headlights. You're off to a good start lucky for you plasti dip isn't permeant. I'm still picking dip off in between my spokes though.
