They barely have cap room to bring in Melo, and that's only if Pau takes a huge paycut.

Because Kobe took too much money, they can't improve their roster.
If Kobe looks less like most loyal veterans, Lebron and Melo could have been part of Lakers.

They can trade Nash for nothing just to get rid of the 10mils.

That contract is gonna haunt kobe because its gonna keep him from his 6 rings

But the lakers were dumb to offer him the cash that fast too....they should have never put it out there until he was 100%

I don't agree with the idea, especially because of what Dirk and Duncan have done, but Lebron is trying to do the same thing with his franchise, and everyone says he deserves it. Kobe still can play at a high level and has proved his worth.

Still, I agree that he should've taken much less

The fact that he's one of maybe 3 veteran future of Hall of Famers that are still in the game, and people actually do want to play with him. His competitive ego is contagious, not to mention all the young guys that can learn so much from him.

Yes he can be a ball hog when compared to other superstars, but there's still plenty of people that would like to play with him.

You might be right..... from what I am seeing on ESPN, if they went after Bosh, they would maybe keep Beverly and another one... but they are not including Parsons' potential salary demand in the equation since he is a restricted free agent. They seem to leave him out of the senario ..... not sure I like that .... I would rather keep Parsons for at least half of what Bosh wants and maybe go after a stronger bench (even though it is not that bad)

Yeah but if kobe really wanted to compete for ships like he said he would, he would've taken a huge paycut to strengthen the teams like Duncan and dirk.
Both Duncan and dirk are getting paid ~$10 million a year so their FO can make their teams better.

Kobe still has a huge ego and can say he gets paid the most in the league.

This. Kobe is a fool if he really wants to win before retiring and taking that contract... Blah blah "paying him back" and all that nonsense.

You want to win? Take a cut, use money to get talent. Because he doesn't have time to wait for a rebuild.

He has stated that he's back to 100%

Apparently he's been able to practice just fine.
