My Ride: 2000 328i
2000 328i xenon retrofit OEM

Hi all,
I have a 2000 328i with stock halogen lights. Today my son and I went to the U-Auto-Pullit yard and found a 2000 323i with Stock factory Xenon headlights. I purchased the left and right units ( the entire light assembly) for $25 each. I read my Bentley and read a lot of the posts here and then checked out my lights. They are in excellent condition and power up perfectly using a 12 volt battery. They look plug n play for my son's car. The only thing we did not get are the self leveling components.
Here is the question, on a 2000 ( April 2000 build date ) will I have to get the LCM re-flashed for the xenon lights?

Thanks in advance.
John

I basically did the same thing with mine except that the xenon came from a 00 323i to a 99 323i. The auto leveling didn't transfer over so It was a bit of a pain to adjust, after I got them level they're fine. For me to get them to work I went into PA soft and turned the xenon option on. I've never had a problem other than a bulb going bad.

I'm not sure if this makes a difference or not but the LCM on the car that the lights came from had the auto light option mine however doesn't.

Awesome reply, I hope this will work this way with my son's car. I looked at his car yesterday and literally, the housings are identical. I have a blank plug on his car where the auto leveling would be. The bolt holes, and electrical plugs are identical. I have a scanner for the car that I bought online 2 years ago, and have never installed the software or even tried to use it yet. That will be my next project when time and cooler weather prevails. I will now clean up the new lights, and buy new rubber seals for the outside, they look ragged. Might as well get them looking good prior to install. I will post back in a few months with my results. Thanks again.

Good luck! If it were me I would clean them as much as possible while they were still off the car.
