$299. Yep. $299 at Best Buy!
I don't have any experience with plasma's. How durable/sensitive to burned in images are they? I feel like it's old tech with everything LED today.

Also, there's an Insignia 40" for $250 that is now available. The TV in the original link sold out.

I am not sure what you are asking.

Are you asking why I said to by a plasma for $299 vs an entry level LED for $229?

If so, the $299 plasma is dramatically more accurate in color reproduction.

ALL of the "flaws" of older plasma are basically non-existent now.

They use the same or close to the same amount of power. They are not heavy anymore. There is no burn in when the anti-burn in feature is on, etc. etc.

My plasmas are all 720p and 4-6 years old and still better than any 1080p LED on the market when viewed at the proper distance.

As with everything, its JMO.

I have one of the rare 37" Panny plasmas in my bedroom. It is still a fantastic picture. My dad has a panny plasma and had to buy an LCD due to size needed and he about lost his mind when he hooked it up. All the warning in the world did not help his disappointment.

...just sayin.

It is superior technology. It just is not accepted as much due to profit margins. A lot of misinformation out there.

There are still people searching for old Pioneer plasmas for thousands of dollars.

Most people think LED is superior because that is what they were taught. Either by misinformation or misrepresentation. Plasmas ALWAYS look the worst in the stores ON PURPOSE.

Give me 5 mins with a remote and 5 minutes to explain a few details and you would buy a plasma.

Don't get me wrong. LEDs are closing the gap every day. But there WAS a HUGE gap to close as far as color reproduction and overall picture quality. Don't even get me started on smearing and shadowing.

I always see good deals on plasma's but pass them up. Will check a few out in Best Buy now. Thanks for the info, GlockMan.
