is it safe to change your oil after 15K
i have an o3 m3, i was just wondering, should i really wait until the oil timer drops to zero miles before i change the oil, or should i do it more often. what do u guys recommend. It seems like 15K miles is a long way before actually changing your oil.

I would never wait 15k miles between oil changes...I do mine every 5000 miles.
15k is just waaaaaay too long...especially for the filter. |

NO,NO,NO
do yourself a favor change your oil after 5,000 miles no more.
we have high reving engines they are hard on oil. after the 1,250 mile oil change. change it after 5,000 miles and remember to look at the oil very few weeks to top it off to. you won't be sorry also remember to get 10-60w weight oil bmw only sells it to. if you did not know that already. good luck with your new baby. i have a 2003 m3 smg carbon black coupe to. bobm3

10-60w and only made by bmw. if you don't follow using that oil they say it can void the warrenty. if something goes wrong with the moving parts that the oil comes in contact with. bobm3

you could do either at the dealer or another shop but you'll probably pay a lot more at the dealer, or you could DIY. it's quite easy, really!

the 10W60 is made by Castrol. I think Mobil1 has a substitute for it though.

I used to wait 15,000 miles between oil changes, but not anymore. My oil is real dirty around 10,000, so I'm changing it every 7,500 from now on.
I wonder if BMW doesn't want the engine to last forever by recommending 15K oil changes? This would ensure that you come back and buy another one sooner. Frank |
