since my car is an MS45 car, the wiring was very minimal.

we pinted out WDS PINOUTs fro MSS54 for a 2002 MSS54 NON SMG and compared it to MS45 DME pinouts and made my harness pinouts match what ever the MS54 needed. depinned and moved pins where they needed to go.

EWS was coded out by a local software tuner as well as secondary pump under the hood for emissions. we used the S54 Fuel pump, lines and FPR/Filter setup as well. Retained the stock 330i relay and made sure to use Euro Fuel pump relay pin on S54 DME and it works just fine. Retained M54 AC compressor and changed to a different belt we got from autozone. installed M3 aux fan and airbox as well.

Love the quad exhaust, sounds very good and not too much rasp.

Pictures of starting, progress and complete are below and a video as well.

This piece is the passenger side, it runs under the bumper re bar and will connect to ONE bank of the mid pipe, the driver side will just directly output to the 2nd bank of the mid pipe.

Amazing job. If my swap turns out half as nice as yours did, I'll be happy.

Saw this on ZHP mafia while it was a WIP. Great thread! Also saw you butt in on Kalim - so you didn't/can't use the ZHP transmission on S54?

Damn son. You made that look so easy! Would love a S54 swapped wagon or ZHP sedan someday.

I'm curious to hear what an educated someone has to say about the quad exhaust. One bank now has about 2 ft of additional back pressure on it. Will that cause any issue? Car looks so sick BTW.

When you say "2 ft", are you talking about the length of pipe? That is minimal compared with the restriction in flow from the pipe to the exhaust tips. If you were racing this car, and $1,000s of dollars were on the line, yeah, it's worth smoothing out and evening out the pressure losses in the exhaust trains. But this is not the case, is it?

Has my approval. Everything should just go fairly bolt in. The part that would annoy me is the electrical

Thanks! What do you mean that I butt in on Kalim?

Yes you can use the ZHP 6 speed transmission on us 54 you just have to make sure to use the ZF 6-speed transmission matching flywheel and clutch. Does the S60 transmission uses a flywheel with the flywheel mounted pilot bearing whereas the gettrag transmission easy the standard pilot bearing mounted in the crankshaft.

I originally did plan on using my 60 transmission because I just bought an engine and no transmission but then after that I found a really good deal on a complete Parts car that had everything so I sold my s54 long block and my M54 swap and just kept s54 everything from my parts car.

I ended up selling my complete M54 6 speed swap to somebody local for around $1,800.

Sorry it sounded a little disrespectful the way I worded it. I just meant I saw you asking questions on his thread, particularly on this topic! I do have to ask if you don't mind. So you'd use the ZHP trans clutch/flywheel setup? And put the pilot bearing in the engine? I've been kind of holding off my ZHP tranny swap thinking I'd have incompatibility here down the road when I'm ready to do an S54 swap.

no worries!

if you keep your ZF 6 speed transmission and just swap in an S54 engine all you have to do is reuse flywheel from the M54 engine because it has a pilot bearing mounted inside the flywheel which the ZF tranny needs and then you have to use a clutch/pP combo for M54 as well to work with the flywheel. it will all bolt on with no issues to the S54.

This is all information that was rather blurry until now. Sadly, I just got my hands on a Z4M transmission instead which uses the same clutch/flywheel's as the M3. Hopefully someone else will find that info useful!

We need to get together whenever I'm ready to swap mine. I'm sure I can bolt everything but the electrical part really what confuses me. If you have a schematic of what pin goes where that'll be awesome!
