See post #168, It's coming true!
End of the month (Supposedly March) has already turned into April 3rd with no update nor target delivery date for the M3 bars. If I didn't know any better, I'd think their concentration is directed towards the "batch of bars for resellers" at the moment. Dan, how about putting some emphasis and urgency on the M3 bars for those of us who have been waiting long enough already???? What gives?

M3 guys, I have yet to meet with the manufacturer (was going to meet on Friday, pushed to Tuesday). What I will tell you is that they have made progress, and they had a goal of the end of March. They overshot their delivery goal for the regular bars by a week, and I've put the pressure on to finish the M3 bars. This is a matter of dialing in the exact shape of the new base plates, machining them, and anodizing them. Once that is done, the M3 bars are ready to go. The bars themselves are been completed, we're just waiting on the base plates.
If anybody wants to talk to me directly about this, PM or email me for our phone number. Thank you for your continuing patience, and again, I apologize for the delay. Regards, -Dan dan@benferperformance.com |

Hey guys... for those who had fitment problem with the bases... here's the solution...
Some fanatics said that they need to force the base plate in. I had the same problem too. But it only happened to an aged shock tower. There's a simple fix. Just use a small hammer to slightly tap on the shock tower bolts. They will then align perfectly with the holes with the base plate. The holes are of good size and I don't think drilling the hole bigger is required. I know that because I broke 1 of the shock tower recently and replaced. The base plate went into the new shock tower with ease, but not for the old one (1.5yrs w/ 28000kms)... After a few slight taps on the shock tower bolts the base went in with ease too... hope this helps...

M3 guys, an update... The guy who is responsible for the completion of the M3 called me at 8PM and left me a message. He's been working late to complete the project, and we will be speaking tomorrow.

And??? Dan, I hope you put some pressure on this issue. You are way behind on delivery for these! Next weekend will make the 3rd show I've attended without this new mod. I can only hope you'll make this right for us...

Well? Today is Friday! What's the deal? I'm curious to see whether you're going to give us another disappointing update or somebody actually got their ducks in a row for a change. Waiting...

Zmared,
Thank you for your calm patience and understanding, it's much appreciated. All of the M3 bars shipped today for people who have paid in full, except for the one nickel plated bar which will ship on Tuesday because the nickel plating takes longer. I will post tracking numbers tomorrow if I have access to a computer. (I am at kinkos right now on a business trip) Regards, -Dan Quote:

Dan, my bar arrived today(4/26/2004)! The bar itself is beautiful and without a flaw!!! I am a little disappointed with the quality of the base plates. The fact that these were the hold up definitely shows! The welding job doesn't look that great compared to the pictures you've posted. Looking at your product photos and then looking at mine I have to admit I'm disappointed. I'm curious to see what the other M3 owners think of theirs. I won't have a chance to install it until this coming weekend so hopefully fitment won't be an issue. At any rate, thanks for making good on the delivery date.
