Sticky accelerator? I have a 2001 325ci

I'm not sure what is meant by sticky accelerator. On mine, you press the gas and there's not much peddle resistance since it's throttle by wire. I can press the peddle as quickly or as possible and if I press to the point before kickdown or press all the way to kickdown, I get the same amount of power. Also there seems to be a plateau of sorts in the accelerator. At a certain level, the acceleration will be exactly the same. I also have problems when it's in third and fourth gear that it won't downshift all the time (I really need to take the car in but I know they will say they found no probs) There's a very noticable throttle delay also.

So can someone define "sticky gas peddle" for me and if my desciption fits so when I take it in I know what to tell them.

it's sorta like little tiny points of resistance when pressing down the accelerator pedal... it's mostly noticable when pressing down slowly, it feels like it's incremental whenever it's going down.. it's not smooth the whole way..
