Mounting Valentine V1 concealed unit

Just ordered my V1. I've been contemplating this for a year and now I can find out what I've been missing. Read the lastest Motortrend radar rating but decided on the V1 over Beltronics and Passport because of the concealed unit, mounting location (high windshield) that can be hidden with visor if stopped by the cops, and of course, only the best for my car

So my question is for those of you who mount the concealed unit on the dashboard, do you put it on the right or the left side. It seems that some of the warning lights will be hidden so I'm just trying to figure out which warning lights I can live without. I've seen the unit on both sides of the dashboard. Also, I have steptronic.

I thought about mounting the unit in the ash tray but I don't want to take my eyes off the road to look down there.

yeah it's too bad we don't have all the LCD space as on the 5 series

they'll put it on the radio display - which counts those of us w/o factory radios out

So what exactly would happen??
You would get this displayed on the factory radio and get an audible beeping through the factory stereo?

the unit only displays output information - beeping remains contained in the V1

The warning would be on the radio display when they happen

"BMW 3-Series (E46) IKE and MID Display Modes:

Coming Soon!.

Instrument Cluster alphanumeric LCD Display (IKE), Multi-Information Display (MID)"

Maybe there's hope for that the unit will display warnings in the E46 cluster after all

Was that unclear in my previous post? My mistake!

I've spoken with the developers of this unit.

The problem is that there arne't a lot of LCD segments to work with on the information cluster. Look at the 5 series cluster on that sight - all sorts of room. That is definately not the case on the 3 series cluster. My previous post was aluding to the fact that they intend to get around this problem by also displaying info on the radio display.
