Dumb question, how do u total up HP?
This sounds like a dumb ques. but if your car already has 200 w hp and you put in a turbo or SC that promises 300 whp does that mean your pushin 500 whp now or, are they just saying that after you install the the SC you'll have 300 whp hp?

you get a dyno done to test the current hp of your car, thats where all the graphs come from you see.
for an example, check out kromex's thread

When advertisers say that a kit delivers "X amount of horsepower," that's the total amount after the modification.

no, it just means the total hp. In other words, 300whp promised is a 100 whp boost over your 200whp stock.

there really isnt any way to tell how much ur car is putting down unless u put it on a dyno, if u take ur cars stock power and add on all the advertised hp that the parts manufacturers state it would be nice to believe u have that kind of hp but theres also drivetrain loss and even tho the cars tested are similar, each car reacts differently to the parts

Hmmm... think about it, if an ehaust company says their exhaust gives you 17 horsepower... what do you think..?
200HP stock, but with their new exhaust you gain 17hp so 217HP Same as if you see a supercharger of turbocharger..

u can make an estimate on how much hp u can get, but not exactly how much hp u'll put on the wheels

The TeamDFL stickers on my car add at least 10hp each.
