2002 Antenna Adapter

I just upgraded my headunit and I order the wrong antenna adapter. I did my search and found out that 2002+ antenna adapters are different. Searched the web and found this:

Is this what I need in order to maintain AM/FM reception?

antenna adaptor

No this is not what you need. That cable has the same end as the antenna that you are trying to connect, and the other end is the same end (female connection) that you are going to try to connect to.

I had the same problem and I have yet to find a cable that brings both of the car antenna connections into one.

I have a 2001 330ci that has two antenna cables in the car. The smaller connection fit the radio that I put in the car (a BMW OEM from a 2004) but no reception. The bigger connection is the one you want to get connected.

I finally got some help at of all places Circuit City. The installer there sold me a cable that first converted the larger antenna cable in the car to a Motorola connection. Then he found another cable that converted the Motorola connection to a Chrysler connection (the small connection on the back of the radio). Works great!

Most car audio shops I went to tried using VW antenna converters, they all seem to think that VW, Audi, and BMW have the same connections, but the Chrysler cable was the winner.

Hope that helps.
Joe

Hey Joe, I just went to circuit city and bout the two antenna adapters. They didnt have the "motorola" so I got the VW/Audi cable. The other cable I got was the Chrysler cable 40-CR20 2002 and Up and the end of that cable wont fit on the rear of my cd player. Do you have the model number of that wire?? Thanks.
