Hey, the camera fit perfectly into the black rubber piece that was around the trunk key lock, so it was pretty secure as soon as I siliconed the camera to it. It was very simple to do. Thanks -Michael.

THAT LOOKS COOL

BUT

YOU WOULD NOT WANT TO DO THAT BECAUSE

WHEN YOUR CAR'S BATTERY IS DEAD (forgot to switch off lights or whatever)

YOU CANNOT HAVE YOUR TRUNK POPPED TO REACH FOR THE BATTERY.

YOU SHOULD KNOW WHAT I MEAN

Yeah, but I don't understand what the big deal is about the keyhole covers?

Way to have capslock on.
To prevent this, would it be possible to somehow make it so that you could open your trunk from the inside of your car (I know the levers are on the inside of the trunk, but would it be possible to somehow make it so you could open them from the cabin)?

You can still open the door, pop the hood and use the battery connections under the hood to jump the battery.

Hey guys, yea I was thinking the same thing, that I would just get the door open and pop the hood and jump it that way. Hopefully that day will never come. I'm not sure what you mean exactly by "reverse" image. The camera works just like a video camera and shows whatever is behind my car and in its field of view. Let me know if have any other questions. If you guys are interested in doing this, definately go and do it, its really that simple to do. Thanks -Michael.

very cool.. what they mean by 'reverse angle' is whether the camera captures an image as it sees it, or does it flip the image around horizontally to make objects on your screen oriented the same way as it would in your rear view mirror..

http://www.navtv.com/images/reversecamera.jpg

which way does your camera work?

Hey, my camera captures the image as it sees it. It will project on my screen whatever is behind me as it appears, no tricks with flipping the image around. It also captures a much wider angle and shows you more than any of your mirrors can. Hope this helps. -Michael.

is that rubber washer part removable? the camera you bought is 1/3", which i am assuming is the diameter of the camera?

i'm trying to measure things up to see if this camera will fit in there:

Yes, the rubber washer is removable, but it helps in holding the camera in place. The camera is slightly bigger than 1/3" because you have to allow for alittle room for the metal casing that is all around it. I just took a look at the link for the e bay auction, and it looks like that camera is one that doesn't mount flush with the trunk, but instead it is actually bigger than the hole and you mount it from the outside of your car in. I mean that you drop it in from the outside into the hole were the key lock used to be and it is bigger than the hole so it sticks above the surface of the trunk, and the nuts that are shown in the sideview picture just tighten up to the inside of your trunk from the back. I know about this because this is the camera that my local auto sound installer had in his shop. That camera looks alittle wider than mine, but if it says that it is about 1/3" than it should fit. Do you understand what I mean? -Michael.

yeah i know what you mean.. i'd have a better idea if i had my car around - its in winter storage so i cant measure the diameter of the lock and the rubber thing at the moment.. i want that inverted picture feature though.. i wonder if theres a module that you can plug in to the video RCA to do it?

1hotbmw: I appreciate all the time you spent relaying this information to the board.

Is there any way you could take a picture of theinstallation form the inside of the trunk?

Thinks in advance.
