Arrow Cigarette lighter Problems

Heys guys

heres the problem:

i want to power my ipod in the car so i bought a power cord that plugs into the cigarette lighter. Anyway, the problem is that it doesnt provide power. This isnt just the case for my ipod, my car phone adapter, and i tried a radar detector too. nothing seems to be powered. However, when i press down the cigarette lighter button, it does get hot and operate as normal. I was just wondering if its possible a circuit blew, or something. It doesnt make sense to me that the lighter would work but it wont provide power. Also any information on cost for repairs. (2000 323i) thanks

-David

I have the same problem..you just have to play with the plug for a little bit. plug it in hard and turn the thing until you get power..and then just leave it there

Has to do with the adapter end. Sometimes there are adapter rings that come with the cord, or maybe store where you got the adapter can help. A lot of european cars have this problem.

If you mean replace the female port installed in the car, that's exactly what i would do. However, your original lighter would not work in the new port (in my case it wouldn't matter). As long as that doesn't matter to you, go for it.

I'm sure you can get the power port at any auto supply house. You'd just need to wire it into the original wires, and you're golden!
